HooDoo- Herbstreit was pathetic right up til PSU fired Paterno. Wouldn't commit to a single pov and it was embarrassing to see. He's the poster boy for them being afraid to utter a single word that might hurt the ESPN franchise that's in bed with NCAA.

Motive?

Found out more, was dirty, knew he would burn with the rest eventually, destroyed all implicating evidence and busted town.

Or got threatened, decided to disappear before they made him disappear.

I think getting killed or disappearing are equally likely.

McQueary ultimately is not going to be Bradley's call.

That's getting trumped. Guaranteed.

Put me in the corner that this game might get cancelled/forfeited altogether if shit runs like it could over the next 24 hours.

This is really good and personal from Philly's Sixers beat writer: http://tinyurl.com/ch7uolh

Also, Ben Jones has been told Sandusky was seen at Dick's yesterday in full PSU attire.

many good sociological points I agree with. Disagree that this could "happen anywhere". State College is a unique convergence of isolated small town, beieving their own BS, and cult of personality. That's not the casue, but it is the enviroment.

Before his sophomore season at Penn State in 2005, Connor was among three Nittany Lions suspended by Joe Paterno for making what was reported as several months of harassing phone calls to a retired former Penn State assistant coach. That victim has remained anonymous, though Conner says it wasn’t Sandusky.

“No,” he said. “No, it wasn’t. It was another coach.”

- Joe Posnanski Nov 18, 2010

Joe has been in State College for 7 months working on a book about Joe Pa. Fortunately for him, it sounds like it's in the preliminary research phase and he hasn't started writing yet. Otherwise he'd probably need a pretty damn big eraser.

Poz - " I think Joe is what people think he is -- after all, you can't fool people for 60 years. Sure, I would hope there will be a lot in the book that will offer insight into Joe as a person, as a coach, as a teacher, as a role model, as a friend, as a legend and all those things. But I don't think we're going to find out that Joe is actually a 6-foot-3 gentleman with a Southern accent.

He is Joe Paterno. He's not the saint that some of his more enthusiastic fans try to paint him as. And he's also not the character that some of his critics paint him as. He's a man who I think, for 60 years, really has tried his best."

I have no idea what Pos said re: Joe Pa, but he is starting to get some legit backlash.

The Twitter idiots and Cowherdians are swarming him.

No. I would sooner rip my eyes out with a safety pin than read a Whitlock Tweet.

Although I'm 99% sure it has something to do with race and this incident (is he pretending to be breaking that these are not going to be young caucasian kids that were "underprivalaged" because anyone with a brain knew that).

Because he either brought up the race card as his own or tweeted about The Wire.

He's the worst.

Isn't this grounds for the death penalty at this point?

My knowledge of that is limited, but a lack of control over a university definitely seems like it fits here.

I'm just having a hard time getting around the fact that JoPa throughout this whole sickening mess must have went with his gut in terms of what kind of person he believed Sandusky was and quite possible disregarded outside opinion(s) at some point. Unless he truly did lose enough of his mind and this somehow got buried in the mess that might have been going around his head.

Scary to think there is a good possibility that there is still new information to come out in all of this.

Lou Holtz was apparently on this and stepped in front of it claiming he had no idea he was even on the board.

At no other time had I ever heard a negative comment or rumor about Jerry Sandusky and the fact he still had an office at Penn State led me to believe that there were no problems. I try to do research in a charitable cause before I consent to speak because I want to make sure it is an honest cause and the proceeds would go to help others.

Only yesterday did I realize I was on their advisory board. I have had no contact or correspondence with Second Mile or Jerry Sandusky since 2009 with the exception of thank you notes for one of their most successful events.

An "emeritus" director is usually a former board member who is invited to stay on board as a nonvoting member in an advisory capacity. This is an honorific title in recognition of the member's active participation, financial contribution, or continuing strong interest in the organization. Sometimes former board chairs are granted this title automatically. An "honorary" director has a similar status but may also be a distinguished outsider whose affiliation with the organization would be welcome.

Certainly looks like ESPN told SVP to change his line-up to be less PSU focused HOODOOOOO

Depends if Sandusky is in solitary confinement. Child molesters don't typically fare well in prison.

I think he offs himself prior to the trial.

Trying to find an apt analogy...maybe a major car crash with multiple fatalities...body parts strewn all over the road...and the NCAA car pulling up with lights flashing, sirens on...to cite the guy who caused it for not having a front license plate on his car.

To me, that's about how important the NCAA is to this situation. The fact that Sandusky was retired, and not in any official capacity in the program would complicate matters considerably, as far as the NCAA goes, I would think.

You know, I really have no idea why this guy Bielema gets a bad rap.

Must just be some jealous folks out there.

This whole story is so depressing. I think all the people who helped cover this up should just do the honorable thing and go gargle Drain-O.

Anyone want to talk about OSU vs Purpoo? Nobody? Alright then.

It's been all PSU talk so far today besides one Tebow interview.

Unfortunately, no consideration or talk of whether or not any games should be canceled, but then, why would there be? There's going to be a BLUE OUT!!! and it's going to like totally raise awareness for the victims of...WHOAAAAAA OH OH OH OH OHHHHHHHHH, TD PENN STATE!!!! TD PENN STATE!!!! BIG TENISH CHAMPIONSHIP HERE WE COME!1!!!!1!! JOE PA FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!

Is there LoIC per se here though? I mean, if your prez is fired, your AD is in jail (soon enough on a perjury charge that actually has huge, effing teeth) and your football coach/King-by-Proxy is fired, doesn't that define LoIC?

The people controlling your school and athletic department were out of control. Can this be argued or is the definition completely different in terms of the NCAA?

The people controlling your school and athletic department allowed children to be raped.

Bret Bielema kicked a field goal when he had 59 points on the board late in the 4th quarter against Purdue. Not exactly a good sport in my eyes. At least wisky has not done what Penn state has done, but I really dislike the guy

Agreed. With all of this going on, and knowing how deep it ran, if this program isn't cancelled for two years, and on probation for longer at a minimum, than there is no point in ever worrying about NCAA violations in the future for anything. Because you can't possibly top the horror of this. You have to almost consider cancelling football period. Because, they have proven they can't handle, nor deserve a program.

And the Big Ten better work quickly to find a replacement.

You sure about that?

I'm guessing that since the wrongs done in Happy Valley don't fall under the umbrella of "NCAA Violations", they will gladly steer clear.
