Toledo Rockets at Ohio State - Predictions/Game thread

Unread postby JCoz » Thu Sep 08, 2011 10:11 am

Getting it on the board early.

I'll go with 41-10.

I see the D getting OSU a few short fields, maybe a TD, and another 200 yard rushing day. I just dont see the Rockets getting anything going on offense, particularly if we bring the heat like we've shown so far.

I think this Toledo team is solid, and a MUCH, MUCH better team than the Zips. Still, there are more than a 120 D-1 teams and a with it comes a comparably large spread in quality.

I have a sincerley difficult time imagining a game where OSU gives up more than 17 points, and I think that would have to include a ST's TD.
"I won’t tell you exactly what it’s about, but this is typical of what might happen,'' he said. "I said, ‘Tom, do you want to do this?’ He said, ‘I don’t think I do. I think it’s too much or too strong or whatever.’ I said, ‘well, we might have to.’ And he goes, ‘well, if we have to, then you’ve got to tell me, because I won’t do it.’ And I said, ‘OK, then I might have to tell you. Fine.'''

Yay for us.

I like the Bucks 38-7. I hate to give Toledo their first points in what will be their third try against the Bucks, but I think they will score.

I think the Buckeyes struggle to run the ball some against the Rockets, surprising many who are still in awe over the ease that they ran against Akron. To quote Mark May, "It was Akron."

I think we see a little regression to the mean out of Joe Bauserman. I am not a firm believer in guys suddenly performing 2 standard deviations better than they normally do for any appreciable period of time, so in this one, I think we see something like 15-27 for 223 2 TDs 1 pick. Still better than last year but not as good as last week, part of it is due to the competition the other part is that well, he is Joe Bauserman.

I like the Buckeyes to score once on defense and perhaps once on ST, in the end I think the non offense is responsible for 14 points (directly or by very short fields).

I like the Bucks to receive 4+ TOs from the Rockets. Toledo is going to be surprised how fast the Buckeyes secondary will close windows. Welcome back Travis Howard.

I like a bit more zip out of the running game, but less consistancy. I am not really going out on a limb here because of the return of Jordan Hall and Jamaal Berry.

A lot of weird shit floating around. Rothman said today the total sum for all 3 players might have been $200. Meaning they each got less than $70. Not sure if it was accurate, it is 97.1 The fan.

If you guys who are watching the game can post updates here, I'd be eternally greatful. I'll be working all weekend, so won't be able to watch tOSU or the Browns tomorrow. This sucks.

Not sure if it was mentioned in last week's thread or not, but I love the speed out of the huddle by this year's team.

And yeah, Stoney can catch the pill a little bit.

Stoneburner just made a nice 1 handed catch for a TD right down the middle of the field.

7-0 Bucks.

They seemed to move the ball at will so far.

Maybe it's just me, but they seem way more intense this year.

Pretty typical first defensive drive going on right now. Soft coverage and giving Toledo the underneath stuff making them march it all the way down the field. Another completion and we will start to attack and hold them to a FGA.

Glad Fickell has cleaned up the special teams issues.

Fickell IS Jim Tressel.

Toledo ball on the Buckeye 1-yd line.

Not getting it in on the return may cost them.

How do they lose Toledo's only receiver on an under crossing route inside the 10? That's terrible.

Hope we don't hear it again til Baaaaaaaaazzerman replaces Miller in garbage time 10 weeks down the road.

He's so underwhelming and blah. Does nothing well other than strictly manage a game IMO.

At some point you need guys making plays. Bozzerman ain't that guy.

I am a little bothered by tOSU's line's inability to open holes against toledo. The OLine looks sluggish through 2 series. We need to fix this ST thing. It has been a fucking trainwreck.

Check that reply.

Because Sabino decided to hang out 2 yards deep instead of with his guy through the zone. No rub or anything.

Wow, so now we need to run sweeps in order to move the ball against toledo? We cannot dominate them at the LOS.

I'll say this (and your point is definitely taken) but Toledo is in a different league than Akron. Much more athletic and much faster. Good for them.

And the Buckeyes and Baaaaaaazerman get bailed out by a questionable face mask where both guys coulda got called.

Toledo not being reverent toward the Buckeyes. Filling holes and hitting people and at a speed that Akron couldn't approach.

Nice, so we are going to try a 47 yarder? Why not just go for it? Drew Basil is terrible, stop kicking fucking field goals. Matter of fact we should consider going for 2 after every TD.

Everyone knew Toledo was better than Akron, but that doesn't change the fact that the OLine should be able to blow them 3 yards off the LOS

I was thinking OSU was lucky to not draw Toledo in the first game. I dunno, maybe it doesn't matter, with the new coach getting a late start and all the players suspended.

Toledo LOVES to upset B10 schools.

Right DickRod?
Purdon't?

15-7...
So Lingerie Football is hiring more athletic women to "legitimize" the sport?

Should be able to do a lot of things better than they're doing Furls. They look almost disinterested against a team that's not at all impressed with their mystique.

Just saying Toledo's athleticism seems to have caught no one by surprise except the Buckeyes on the field.

At least they got that 30 yard punt away.

30 yard punt + 0 return = better than normal. At least it didn't get run back (BTW that is my new standard for tOSU special Teams).

What the fuck does Toledo smoking the Buckeyes in the first quarter have to do with Akron.

You guys wish you were as cool as I am.
