Still have no power from Hurricane Irene last week. I will be watching the game to the amazing sound of my new price gouged 5KW generator. Not crazy about running on generator power for 18 hours, so I will probably watch tOSU game then shut off the generator until 8pm for the LSU v Oregon game.

Connecticut Lighting and Power has botched the recovery from Irene at a level that makes old "Brownie" look nearly competent. Good thing this was just a tropical storm (40mph winds) when it hit up here. Had we seen 75-90MPH winds we were supposed to get we may have had to abandon the state for good. Hell, I sat through Hurricane George in Guantanamo in 1998 or 99 which was a Cat5 Hurricane that ran right over top of us (eye and everything) and we recovered all facilities in 3 days.

Aside from a little water that never would have got in if the apartment in the front of the first floor was vacant for a whole three days before the new tenants showed up the city of Boston was literally fine.

Amazing to me that everyone everywhere else lost power and all that shit.

I slept through most of the storm, woke up, dicked around online, watched a movie, etc....

CL&P had over 600K customers w/o electricity. I blame the current structure for compensating C-level business leadership.

THe infrastructure (poles, wires, tree trimming etc.) is atrocious as evidenced by 40mph winds taking down about 100 poles in my neighborhood. Right now, CEO-types are compensated based on bonuses for the last year's profits, if you spend less on infrastructure you increase profits, your pay goes up.

Anyways, thanks to whoever pulled the necessary strings... after 6 days my power miraculously just flipped on.

I'm like a kid on Christmas when the power comes back on after an outing. One of life's inexplicable phenomena that I can be pissed as a mofo for the time it's out and then completely forget my rage and even forget about sending the angry emails or making the angry calls.

When it goes back on all is forgiven.
