First college wrestling match I've watched in, like, ever. Kid is from Berea where my fiancee teaches.

BTW, Kent just knocked off Fairfield to reach the NIT quarterfinals. Back-to-back road wins. If they can steal one more @ Boulder they'll be off to MSG.

Not so sour when you've got four NCAA Tournament victories, an Elite Eight appearance, nine postseason wins and a couple of NIT quarterfinal appearances under your belt as a program. And when you know this Kent team brings everyone but Rod Sherman back next year.

And if you say I'm living in the past in terms of those Tournament wins- you're right. As long as Akron is oh-fer in the Dance it'll always be our trump card and I for one am not even close to being done playing it.

OK Spin, let's be serious for a minute and put the MAC Smak guns in the hyperbole holsters. You know I'm only messin' with you becaue you are to Kent what SSS is to the Sucklers, right?

KSU's NIT run was damn impressive. Roadies against St Mary's and Fairfield, quality teams, and they gave the Bufs all they could handle last night. Coming close to defeating 3 top 100 RPI teams on long roadies in a one and done is nothing to pee on.

To me, both Akron and Kent both belonged in the NCAA's. Sure, Akron's RPI was down, but it is about a complete lack of resect for the MAC. All Akron do is win 20 games and get to the confrence tourney finals every dang year. They belonged, win or lose in the conference final. You mean to tell me the fact that Kent loses by 1 in OT after B2B conference RS titles separates NCAA worthy from non-NCAA worthy? Or Akron had a FT dropped here or there? Ridiculous. There are annointed mid-majors and then mid-majors of a lessor god, and for some reason the MAC, despite having a documented history of sucess in the tourney (except when Akron is the participant - sorry couldn't help it ;-) ) gets relegated to the same number of teams as bufu texas directional plus city name conference that goes Campbell v Duke every damn year. Meanwhile, the A 10 has no problem annualy placing 2 or 3 based on what the Paxson brothers did in the Carter administration. Its bull crap what they do to the MAC every year.

Time to just go to 128.

I think Kent should have made it too. I think the MAC championship should have gotten a better draw than the 5th ranked team in the country. This conference gets no respect.

Akron stepped up it's noncon as much as it could, Minnesota, Cleveland State, Temple, Miami Fl. It's a step forward, from Binghamton and Winthrop. But they still have that stigma of playing a Division 2 noncon. WTF?

I think one problem is the western division. I don't think some of those gyms even charge admission. I've seen bigger crowds at our Wayne campus games. EastMich and Toledo are ranked in the 300's. That drags everyone else's RPI down.

You're right though. For some reason another mid-major goes deep in the tourney, like KSU did, and that's all you hear about for years (Cleveland State). They're the next Cinderella.

And forget about getting in even if a "legacy" school has a down year. Like the year Akron won 26, and lost the MAC finals to a ridiculous clock malfunction/referee brain malfunction, while a sub-.500 Dukie got in.

I tell ya, we get no respect.
