What's funny about this is Akron has sent a ton of criticism towards Kent State for having to market the 90Ksu program.

What a lot of people don't realize is that Kent did not have 93,000 people in it's stadium (I'm talking about the audited number that the NCAA looks at). In fact, they weren't even close.

Akron's inflated number was 104,000. I haven't yet gotten the real number (although I will soon, I'm digging), but I guarantee Akron didn't make the 90,000 mark either.

And, like I've said many times on this board, Akron is in the same boat as Kent as far as attendance worries go. Neither school will make 90,000 and neither school will face sanctions.

Bwahahaha. "While we can?" Akron is what we thought they were, and as they shall remain. A so-so Mac level athletic program.

Proppers to not going Michigan Macphisto and taking the smack like a man, tho. But you opened up and brought this good natured stuff on yourself.

And we never busted out all the run about how some new barely 30K third rate college stadium, now drawing 10K in September of year two, was gonna make our programs too good for the MAC. At least we knew what we were.

And I doubt we'd build a new stadium smaller than the old one if we were trying to be "big time".

MAC football is what it is: a money losing, wanna-be big time, small major conference, low attendance, better off it it were FCS waste of FBCS space, and Akron is barely enough to meet that threashhold.

Well, I was going to bust out "we're rebuilding from JB and the Clepto QB" but with this new Notre Dame guy, this team is completely unprepared.

Not having a chance to recruit is one thing. Multiple illegal procedure penalties is another. IN WEEK TWO. Completely shut down what could have been the winning drive and put all the momentum on GW. That's just one example. But one that keeps haunting anyone still watching this wreck.

And I dislike saying it, perhaps it would be better if the MAC went D-I-AA in football. You ain't going to be playing with the Big Boys in the BCS and if you moved down a little, Kent, Akron, etc would have a legit shot at a 2nd rate Nat'l title.

Zip fans claim we built this beautiful stadium, we can't drop back. Guess they never saw Canal Park, All Pro Freight Stadium, or Classic Park. Very nice stadiums, and very packed when they have a quality team playing (well) to their level of competition. The Gladiators broke all time league attendance records even though it wasn't the NFL. It wasn't even real football.

You gotta win.

Oh well, as long as the BCS teams keep paying the big bucks for the home tune-up games, it's not going to change. Apparently those games pay better than a full stadium, because it seems they have no incentive to put a good product on the field.

let's fce it, you really can't claim to be a "big-time" program if you can't get to 50,000 (or just shy) for a permanent stadium and fill it 80% capacity. Makes me wish FBS would monitor that more.

Don't waste your time there, it really is a quality university. I was one of the HNICs for a while, and there are some really good opportunities for students. Find a cause, go to the football games.

actually in all seriousness, I believe it is a great school for what it's worth. thus far I've received a great education from there and felt that most of my encounters with the faculty and staff have been very good.

I am quite happy with the choice I made of going to Kent over OU, Akron and TOSU. I just enjoy ragging on it sometimes, as it's sort of an "easy local joke".
