God was going to take Coach Wooden into his eternal embrace.

Then Sam Gilbert kicked some money upstairs and God decided to leave the Coach on the mortal coil for a while longer.

Along with Lombardi, JBrown, Ruth, Chamberlain, etc, I'll take the old timer's opinions that he was THE best...

Had the opportunity to meet him once when he was in Baton Rouge visiting Coach Dale Brown. Fantastic presence about him, yet completely unassuming and grandfatherly. Great man indeed, he was as large a figure for college basketball as there has ever been.

just got done watching a special on Big Ten Network on when he was a player with the boilermakers. Just amazingly well done. I know, I have no clue as again, I'm just a kid, but it really helped me gain even more insight into how truly great he was.
