GTFO. He's everyone's favorite average, pedestrian-looking college hoops wunderkind. Hornets reach with their late lottery pick and I'll buy my first NBA jersey since the Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf Nuggets jersey of my youth.

Gordon Hayward can play. He's very athletic for a white guy and has good guard skills for a big guy. He needs to work on his shooting and his defense. I think he shot something like 29 percent from 3-point distance this season.

By the way, Jay Pearlman, who covered CSU basketball for TheClevelandFan (before me), always told me Hayward would play in the NBA someday. And I would always tell him Cedric Jackson would play in the NBA. Everyone in the CSU media would laugh at him when I would say Jackson would play in the NBA.

He's one of those guys that played in that high school game the NCAA tried to pass off as a D1 National Championship game, right?

Seriously, the guy could be Adam Morrison in the pros. I think he is a little more athletic and has more of a mid-range game than Morrison, but it wouldn't shock me to see him go bust. After that run in the tourney though, making the jump now was his only option.

Adam Morrison is a typical white guy who can't drive. Gordon Hayward can drive. That's what makes him so special. Hayward's similar to Houston's Chase Budinger.

Yep, I agree with that. Coach K doesn't even run from the fact that the talent levels are wayyyy down. He was on Cowherd or Rome the other day as I was on the way to work basically saying it's different coaching now than it was 20 years ago when talent like Grant Hill hung around.

Hayward in my estimation was the only potential NBA player in that lot, and most likely will not be Chase Budinger. Now I knew Budinger was an athlete and wasn't sure why he was so poo-poo'd on the boards as sure bust. To be fair Budinger was also dissed in NBA war-rooms but I am not sure Hayward has the same body or skill set. Chase has a very strong upper body to go with his hops, Hayward looks like he can be pushed around.

He might have a chance when puberty sets in and he can put on some muscle. Dude is a beanpole and will get manhandled when he drives the lane.
