I give UT credit: first team either capable of or willing to pressure Turner end to end and to have the discipline to never let Diebler leave their sight even when Turner penetrated. ET got zero help. Chism was a monster, Prince way too athletic for a guy to chase for 35+ minutes and not get worn down.

UT was bigger, more athletic, more disciplined and just better down the stretch tonight. The longer the week went on the worse I felt about this game.

Black Velvet and coke makes it all better. Sorry it's not Wild Turkey, CDT. Black Velvet is all my poor ass can afford.

Great game by both teams. You have nothing to be ashamed of. We just need to have a yearly series w/you guys. Every time we get together, it's a great game. Best of luck next year!

I'll be right there with you guys in a coupla minutes.

not that I'm a TOSU BBall fan in the least bit, BUT

refs. were a bit fishy, that defintely should have been a call on that last possesion.

That block was clean. The real issue was Turner running into the corner for no particular reason.

Yes & Yes...

I know he didn't want to give up that last shot, but Diebler & Lighty had a clean look at the end...

Oh well :pb:

Agreed. No issue with the no-call at the end for me. Poor spacing and execution.

That whole game was a officiating nightmare, both ways, a real embarrassment.... They let major conctact go while calling ticky tack fouls, like the one on Diebler who made a obvious clean steal and they call him for a reach.

The supporting cast was really bad tonight. Too many quick shots without getting into an offensive set. Turner's probably 75/25 on going to the NBA, but his girl is the starting PG for the Womens team. And you also have to look at the class coming in, with Turner they have to be a top 3 team.

Seriously?

Take the fan out of your thinking CDT...

I don't ever expect to see what the kids did at FLA happen again...Not too mention none of them were top 5 picks at the time, including Horford...

Honestly, what factors would make him stay? He's a competitior? They're all competitors, have been since they were made to learn they're ABC's...He's got a girlfriend? Oh c'mon, if it's serious then he better go get a job now...He likes college life? He'll like the pro life a lot more...

I don't understand why we hold athletes to anything they say or do before the body is cold. We've all seen this shit how many times now?

Jesus boys, Give the guy 2 weeks to get over this loss and then see where he is.

We all know better than this same shit over and over again. And yeah, if he comes back and foregoes Top 3 draft pick money then he's nuts IMO. I don't care where you're ranked to start the season. Way too much goes into it and luck and health are too big a part of it too.

You're right...

I shoulda just said it was the same guy who called Peek and said Z will be back with the Cavs in 30 ;-) ;)

Bottom line, if you can stay for another year and:

A: guarantee that your draft stock go up
B: guarantee that your draft stock go up
C: guarantee that your draft stock go up
D: guarantee that your draft stock go up and possibly win a championship ala Horford & Hansbrough

Then you think about it...

If you can go as an immediate lottery pick then you slap your mates on the rear and say "it's been real"...

Now onto today's games...

Do I think he will stay? No. But it's not out of the realm of possibility. It has nothing to do with thinking like a fan, it has to do with HIM making the call, not you. I'm an Evan Turner fan for life, no matter if he's with OSU or the Timberwolves.

You dismiss the reasons why he might choose to comeback as if they have no meaning to the guy. I'll believe he's gone when he says it.

I don't think he's coming back, but if he does you might as well put us in the title game next year.

Kentucky falls...

One of the sloppiest shooting efforts I've seen in awhile...

That loss (along with K-St) actually got me back into 4 of my brackets that I'm in...

Anybody else?

Butler is another example of why March Madness kicks ass and why CFB's post-season sucks.

the D-I equivlant of Butler in CFB (lets say Boise State) has no chance in hell to play for the national championship, they get to sit at the kids table and are told to shut up.

in College bball? Hell, you can make it! so long as you win you're conference and play balls out for 40 minutes, you can advance as far as you can will yourself too.

Swerb has been too big a man to show up here and gloat, but let the record show that our fearless leader called Butler to the Final Four before the tournament.

Anyone else? Take your bows.

I did! Auctually had them losing to kansas.

had a feeling butler would make it, they've been pretty consistant in the tourney.

Chucking 32 threes and hitting 4 of them is beyond embarrassing. Way to use your athleticism Kentucky.

I sort of get what you are saying but then we got the Kentucky-WVU debacle after Butler. Great basketball? Hell I'll take that Buckeye Rose Bowl over having to watch that garbage any day of the week. I guess it's fun seeing a heavyweight get knocked out, but I sure as hell wasn't excited with the actual game-play. To think I used to be one of those guys who said "college basketball is just more exciting to me", years ago of course (like 20 years ago for sure).

Of course Cincy-FLA sucked in D-1 football, and I am sure countless others but for the most part the college bowls were more captivating that watching St. Mary's not show up.

Yep, take your pick...

4 of 32 from long range...

16 of 29 from the charity...

16 TO's...

27 fouls!!!

Hell, Left Virginia missed all 16 two point field goals they shot in the first half and still had the lead :lmfao:

Afterwards, John Wall was heard saying he might stay :hide:

You're absolutely right, Triple-S. Of course, the flip side is that college football's regular season trumps college basketball's regular season- by a long shot. There's got to be a happy medium, a way to set up a great postseason tournament without compromising the regular season. As wonderful as March Madness is, to an extent that's what it's done with college basketball's Nov-Feb slate.

Even after the way Tennessee beat Ohio State? The Vols looked awfully strong in the second half of that game. Then again, nobody does March like Tom Izzo.

The Vols are more than capable of beating MSU, I just mean I'd take my chances on filling out my bracket at the beginning of the tourney (of whatever year it is) with MSU coming out of their region instead of trying to get to cute with upsets or taking the No. 1 seed, unless Izzo leaves or they turn into Indiana for some reason down the road.

As ugly as that WVU-UK game was as I type this MSU is up 1 with 2 minutes left and I don't know that either team could have played a better basketball game. Guys hitting big shots both teams banging inside, refs not calling ticky-tack fouls. Good game.

Izzo's boys gave up 41 in the first half. 27 to this point in the second half.

Best coach in college basketball?

the D-I equivlant of Butler in CFB (lets say Boise State) has no chance in hell to play for the national championship, they get to sit at the kids table and are told to shut up.

in College bball? Hell, you can make it! so long as you win you're conference and play balls out for 40 minutes, you can advance as far as you can will yourself too.

Not denying the greatness of CFB's regular season, I really enjoy it auctually. But theres gotta be a way to strike that medium like you said.

God, I hate Duke. But those guys always seem to be in position to get the offensive rebound, and they really knock down the outside shots. As much as I dislike Huggins, I'm really pulling for West Virginia to send the Duke preppies back to Durham.

I am done hating on Duke and I hope they cut down the nets. So tired of this 20 year grudge toward a good coach at a great school. It's old and it's played, IMO.

Agree. I have no particular love for Duke, but they've done nothing to earn such emnity from the public.

Have a week's worth of BracketBusters games in December and then another week's worth in February.

I hate them and hope they get their asses handed to them.
If they should win it all, I will be sick for at least a year.
it is to the pont now, that I enjoy watching Dook lose more than I enjoy Carolina winning.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. ;-) ;)

But, just think- we could see a Dayton / UNC matchup for the whole ball of NIT wax!

Go Flyers.

Has this suddenly turned into an NIT Tourney sub-thread.

Guess it beats the CBI thread. ;-) ;)

I'll stick with the NCAA but with a twist: anyone see the girl from Xavier miss two WIDE OPEN, NO ONE AROUND FOR ANOTHER ZIP CODE layups last night on the same possession with ten seconds left in a tie game?

Woulda knocked off the #1 seeded Stanford team.

Just to make it worse the officials put .2 back on the clock to make it 4.2 seconds remaining and the chick from Stanford went coast-to-coast and beat the buzzer by one of those tenths to win it.

The girl from Xavier's actual and parent-given first name? Special.

But pronounced Spee-see-al.

I found it amusing.

this is why you can't take womens basketball seriously. stuff like this happens all the time. i'm fairly certain, me, JB, bald peeker, herm, and CDT can take about 90% of the D1 womens bball teams. womens basketball is garbage. gaaah-bage. this is why nobody can even come close to Uconn. its Uconn, tennessee, and that other team with the freakish mammoth 7 footer.

on PTI and ATH they were all sayin they fell so sorry for this girl. i don't get that at all, i feel sorry for all her teammates. it would be one thing if she missed one wide open layup for the game, that can happen to anyone. you would say, "oh i hope she would've gotten another shot, to redeem herself." but she did get that shot and pooped the bed again. in the words of sir charles, thats just turrible
