I play pickup basketball for cash alot.... and I can say other than inside the paint, I suck. I can dunk and block shots. That's about it. I dribble the ball like Ray Charles. Been working on a baseline turnaround J, on a good day i can hit it 30% of the time.

Stick a fork in Sparty, can't make a layup, careless with the ball, Butler will get worked by Duke.

Butler ain't gettin' "worked" by anybody. when you play defense like that.....

I'll say it again, when you take into consideration that they have zero size and little athleticism, it's about the best GD defensive display I've ever seen in that tournament.

I agree. 30 years of watching college hoops, I have never seen a better display of defense. Ever.

Been fun to watch. That was my kinda basketball game. Really enjoyed it. Big big ups to Butler for what they have done.

Awesome.

Took my 4.5 year old to the CSU/Butler game this year. Right down on the floor. Watching the game with him tonight, he says "Hey, we saw Butler play this year."

Man, I'd love to see them win the whole GD thing. Such an easy team to embrace. Stevens is gonna get a big time job though, they'll lose him like they lost Matta and Lickliter. He may resist this off-season, but someone is gonna pay up big time for that kid.

Ouch on Butler. Sheesh that doesn't look good. I want Huggy to lay a big lip lock on him there. Seriously though I'd want to do the same thing if one of my kids were laying there in agony. Hopefully it's nothing serious but didn't look right the way it bent.

I was watching Draymond Green scream at one of his teammates after he got beat on the baseline by Hayward and fouled. As the free throw is being shot he yells at I think Summers... "Help..... I help your dumb ass when you get beat".

Last thing you want to see. A kid like De'Sean Butler, senior year, carried his team on his back to the Final Four ... go down screaming in pain with 9 minutes left.

If someone's already asked in another thread disregard this, but how long can Brad Steven's possibly stay at Butler? Can a school with only 4,000 students step up financially like a Big Ten team could etc.?

Hard to believe he'll be the next Mark Few and stick around for awhile?

Nice thing is he can wait out another season and pretty much cherry pick a big school who doesn't meet expectations next year...

This kids so good that I hope he doesn't pick Rutgers, Nebraska, Oregon, etc just for the sake of change and mulla after Monday night...

No matter what though, his future's pretty damn bright

Wow. What an abnormal quest for normalcy. ;-) ;)

Wonder how the Butler coach did on his 11th grade chemistry quiz.

PeteThamelNYT Just talked to a Butler official who said that the players went to their 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. classes today. Back for 12:30 film.

One of these schools needs to win on a buzzer beater...

yes, a very good game. too bad the officials are obviously dookie-favorers. way too many ticky-tack fouls called on howard and a terribly horrible call on the "charge" by hayward to take a butler hoop away. completely and utterly wrong, wrong, wrong. what a disgustingly vomitous call. they also gave scheyer a tip-in when the ball was still clearly in the cylinder when duke had put up an off-balance shot with just one second left on the shot clock. don't they realize that most people can't stand duke as they represent all the same things as the new york yankees and pittspuke steelers represent??? we love underdogs, not front-runners. come on, butler. don't pay any attention to those bastards. just play 5-on-8 and hopefully you can still perservere and win the game.

aw bullshit, that was a flagrant foul all the way. come on, clark kellogg. don't be a bob costas or a brent musburger and fawn all over the front-runner. hayward was pulled to the ground by his arm. i don't know how more obvious you can be. there was never any intention by thomas to go for that ball whatsoever. butler should have got 2 shots and possession of the ball. had the shoe been on the other foot and duke pretty boy kyle singler got pulled to the ground like that, you can bet your sweet ass they would have called a flagrant foul then.

wrong. refs have been far from "fine". it was hayward not howard who was pulled to the ground and he was not out of control. he was going in for a layup and thomas hit him from behind and pulled him by his arm down to the ground. it should have indeed been a flagrant foul. there was no play on the ball. that's how players get hurt when refs don't have the balls to make the right call in that situation.

The refs have been fine. I was addressing both of your posts. A) Howard was out of control collecting his four fouls. B) The play on Hayward was not flagrant.

They are letting them play for the most part. Guys are getting away with a bit, but that's OK with me.

i don't mind letting them play either. i just can't stand them calling all the ticky-tack fouls at certain times while not calling the more obvious ones. i just loathe inconsistency.

yay duke. yay new york yankees. yay pittspuke steelers. yay los angeles lakers. yay boston celtics. yay tiger woods. excuse me while i go vomit.

why couldn't that shot have gone in??? it would have made a much better story if butler won instead of duke. with duke, it's expected. still, great game. just a bad ending.

ladies and gentleman, i present to you the next coach of the new jersey/brooklyn nets - mike krzyzewski. why??? it's all part of their master plan to get lebron james to come there. just you watch!!! coach k has nothing more left to prove in college basketball. he already coached nba players, including lebron, to the gold medal at the olympics. lebron is on record as saying he respects him as a coach. they have a new, young, hip, multi-gazillionaire owner with global contacts around the world. oh and they have one of lebron's bff's (jay-z) as a token part-owner too.

Dude, we get the point. You're not a Duke fan.

Look back in a few weeks and tell me that wasn't one of the best title title games ever.

Can't stand the floor-slapping tools at Duke either, but it wasn't officiating or anything else. They were a hair better.

We're all better off having watched that game and this entire 3 week tourney.

It was tremendous from the opening Thursday's tip to the final horn tonight.

that's exactly what i wanted to see!!! duke winning is like, so what???

Dude, we get the point. You're not a Duke fan.

Look back in a few weeks and tell me that wasn't one of the best title title games ever.

Can't stand the floor-slapping tools at Duke either, but it wasn't officiating or anything else. They were a hair better.

We're all better off having watched that game and this entire 3 week tourney.

It was tremendous from the opening Thursday's tip to the final horn tonight.

it's not that i'm not a duke fan. i just can't stand all the same people winning all the titles all the time. i just much prefer to see the underdogs win, especially when the deck is always seemingly stacked against them.

great game, yes, but i will stick with my conviction that if butler had won, it would have made for a much better story.

Wrong.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski told ESPN.com Monday morning that "I wouldn't have any interest in the job," even if incoming New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov offers to make him the highest-paid coach in the NBA.

don't count your chickens til they hatch, sunshine. those comments were made in the heat of the moment immediately following the game. just let some time pass for the euphoria from winning the tournament die down and then see if coach k still feels the same way. besides, this will give prokhorov some time to sick the russian version of don corleone on him now and make him an offer he can't refuse. then if he continues to be stubborn and still refuses, if i were coach k, i would be on the lookout for a dead horse head in my bed very soon.

Geez H, ya got the Saints, one of the biggest historical underdog organizations in history...

Less than 2 months later and you should still be drinking spiked chickory and handin' out beads to anything with a 32B or larger...

Why would Coach K leave a job that he will NEVER get fired from and will most likely get to choose his next job at Duke when he decides he's done coaching? Over the last 20+ years, he's seen his collegues and peers make the jump to the NBA, get paid and get fired for not producing to (name team here) expectations. Is he going to have the same impact on players who are making just as much coin as he is as opposed to kids who choose to come play for him? Sure the pros play well for him during the World Championships and the Olympics, but will that translate to the regular season when egos and agents rear their ugly heads. The Guy stays at Duke, it's his best choice.
Galley Boys are slop on top of a so-so burger and a bun you coulde get from a Covneninet food mart generic pack. They the Antoine Joubert of burgers; soft, sloppy, oozing grease and cheap sauce and extremely overrated by a biased fan base. Proof that if you throw enough cheap sauce shit on a burger you still can't overcome the lame burger. -JB

Right, unless you can read, then you would notice Coach K made those comments on Monday morning.
