Akron/E MICH in the 2nd OT right now

EMU hit the wall. They're chucking 3s in 2OT and not even close. They've stopped working on the offensive side.

The beauty of courtside microphones. Humpty Hitchens for Akron gets his 2nd tech. "What the fuck he talkin' bout man?!"

Reghi left speechless for a second.

EMU coach lets off a string of expletives on his way out. Several F yous and and a "f-in bullshit". Right near the scorer's table. He gets T'd and kicked out after his guy takes an intentional foul for throwing an elbow.

Awesome ending.

Fucking Indiana. They've hit one god damn shot in the last 10 minutes of this game. Pissed away a 7 point lead to be down 15.

I'll say yes, only because they at least they won when they had to...

Because Central Michigan & Kent State sure didn't deserve it...

No they didn't. If they won when they had to it would've been in the regular season. Instead they get hot in these podunk tournaments, which pretty much makes the rregular season record pointless.

IMO, that's exactly it...

It's friggin March!!! Every single player understands the meaning of it in college basketball...

Bring your A game or go home, pretty simple...

You played the regular season and now you're seeded in your tournament...If you're #1, then play like it when it counts...

If you're worried about stumbling in your tourney then your school should have been better prepared with their scheduling at the beginning of the season...Just ask the Atlantic 10 & Missouri Valley...get that RPI up and then you have a chance later...

If the regular season should mean so much then why do we have playoffs in any sport? Why do we have 6-8 divisions, wild cards, half the teams making it to the post-season? Do we want every sport to be like Div-1 football and the newspapers can tell us who's best?

We have a post-season because it draws interest (and $$$ natch), but it keeps the hopes of teams & fans high...

The conference tourneys show which team has momentum going into the greatest post-season in all of sports...Which is what you want

I want the 64 best teams. Not teams that played like crap during the regular season only to steal a bid from a more deserving team because they won a confrence tournament.

64 best teams, that's all.

The 64 best?

In other words, throw out 90% of the mids?

Ya really just gotta get by the first weekend CDT, because the Sweet Sixteen usually are...

Ohio has always seemed to be the bane of Kent's existence in big games. To win the league and then get hammered in the first round of the conference tourney... Christ.

How good was that?

And how dumb is UM to let Turner go unimpeded into the forecourt and get a great look at the only shot that can beat them?

Tremendous preamble to the big Tourney.

Better yet that its Michigan.

BTW- Where'd that 13 point lead with 10 minutes go?

Enjoyed it with Waborat and AspDawgPound12 at Chardon Panini's. Great place to watch games.

Agree. The first Michigan defender didn't run up to him until he just crossed the half court line. How they didn't have someone on his ass before the entry pass is beyond me. You've got to at least make it somewhat difficult to advance the ball, dontcha? Is Dick Rod moonlighting as a BB coach?

I've been saying it all year, Turner is the best baller in the NCAA. John Wall can't hold a candle to Turner's game. There's no basketball player in the world i'd rather watch nigh in night out. And this kid broke his fucking back. He's the man and he'd look great in a Cavs uni.

God I love being a Buckeye.

If the Bucks win the Big 10 tournament, they have to be a 1 seed. even over Duke.

I think they're poised to make a deep run. They do lack depth but they have the best player in the country and a pretty good coach.

i'm startin to convince myself that the Bucks actually do have a good shot at the final four. with the size and versatility of our guards, we create match up problems for just about everyone else. and i don't see any really dominating big men this year (except Cousins), so our weakness may not be exploited. i think the Bucks have a chance to make some serious noise, and i'm beginning to show symptoms of the march madness

All boils down to matchups IMO. The depth issue can be fatal if they get in foul trouble and either a huge post presence or a really athletic team that gets upo and down can take advantage of that weakness.

And it is a consideration.

Another key is Diebler. If he hits shots they're a real tough out because he can shrink a lead or build ya one. But a 2-13 game from him will be difficult to overcome.

They have the Nat'l Player of the Year, a big man with some rebounding skills, an athletic sophomore who's getting better in Buford, a lights out 3 pt shooter when he's on and a lockdown defender in Lighty who can make a day miserable for any scorer 6'7" and under.

Madsen will need to have a couple games like he had yesterday too because his contributions and his size could be crucial.

In a season where there is a lot of parity and all the big boys have some flaws they could really make some noise. The NCAA Tourney schedule helps them too with a day off between rounds and then almost a full week of time off. Much better than the potential three games in three days grind of the conference tourney.

My $0.02

Houston steals a bid with a win over UTEP in the C-USA final.

Man, it's an interesting March Madness this year. Where does Houston wind up? A 13? A 14? 18-15 (7-9), biggest wins: Oklahoma, Troy (kind of); bad losses: San Diego, UCF (x2)

Yeah, I would say so. Duke lacks a good road win. OSU has one against California. But, OSU also has those bad losses in the B10. I know Turner was out, but that Michigan loss and the UNC loss hurts their RPI quite a bit.

I thought PJ Hill played well last year when he was in the games. I don't understand what's wrong with throwing him 6 or 7 minutes a game.

If I'm not mistaken the Cal 'road win' was in Madison Sq Garden on a neutral court. Winning in East Lansing still qualifies though. As does the Purdue road win (though they turned around and returned the favor at home against Purdue).

Turner's achilles is his ball handling skills. That comes with being a small forward pressed into point guard duties I guess.

Rob, hit up those friends of yours tonight for the $20 'squares' pool. ;-) ;)

Still better than a conference champion gets in than a .500 team from a major conference.

Why is Gus Johnson not doing the whole Big Ten Tourney?

much prefer him as he is Mr. College basketball than Jim Nantz who's a diet Dick Enberg.

I like Nantz doing "The Masters" and covering the NFL, but cannot stand him during College Basketball.

It's the reverse of Gus Johnson, who's amazing at College Basketball, and terrible at covering the NFL.

Nothing like a quick 20-0 run to get things right. Wow.

Not gonna happen in Big10 play but with the lack of depth OSU has and with Turner having difficulties handling the ball I'd run them and press them to death.
