bummer. i only saw the replay on the big ten network at halftime of the purdue-v-buffalo game. thanx to time warner cable, i don't get espnu which televised the buckeyes game against eastern michigan today.
anyway, it was a horrific replay too as it showed turner going in for a break-away slam only to have an em player undercut his legs which caused him to lose his grip on the rim so he fell parallel to the floor and landed right on the small of his back causing him to break 2 vertebrae in his back.
early reports say he will be out at least 8 weeks: http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/ViewAr ... =204844569
what a damn shame. turner was an absolute beast for the buckeyes this year averaging nearly a triple-double every game while leading the buckeyes to a 7-1 record and a # 15 ranking in the top 25 ncaa basketball poll. now the buckeyes will have to play the majority if not all of their big ten schedule without turner and who knows what shape he will be in come tournament time???
then again, what if he never plays for the buckeyes again??? after all, he might just decide to forego the rest of his college eligibility and just concentrate on going to the nba now. it is because of situations exactly like this that many players declare early so that they don't get injured and potentially lose out on making millions of dollars in the pros.
oh well, basketball should really be the least of his worries now at this point. i mean thank god he wasn't paralyzed or worse. here's to a speedy recovery for turner.
