Buckeye Hoops Opener Tonight

7 PM on the Big Ten Network.

Should be a fun season. Whole team back. Big Ten loaded for bear this year ... conference pretty much brings back every good player from a season ago, a season that saw the conference send a bunch of teams to the Dance. Mich St, Purdue .... look very good. Buckeyes, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin good teams in that next tier. Read some good things about Northwestern, and Penn State coming off a NIT Championship. Crean still rebuilding the Hoosiers. Not sure WTF has happened over at Iowa, that is a mess.

Here's to us finally winning the Big Ten/ACC challenge and the conference sending a couple teams to the Final Four.

This should be a fun OSU season. Really looking forward to seeing the continued development of Turner, Deibler and Buford and excited about the return of Lighty. Supposedly Turner's going to play a lot at the point. We'll see if he can cut down on the TO's enough to make that a reality. Also sounds like Lauderdale will be back sooner than anticipated (possible this week). If he is focused on blocking shots and rebounding like he really means it, he could be in for a big season and can really make this a damn tough team.

Evan Turner is sick. And that was a horrifically bad Alcorn State team. Wow!

I like this team. Like Turner as the LBJ-esque point forward. Hill and Simmons off the bench. Good to see Lighty back. Diebler was a dead eye.

Clearly, this team needs Lauderdale back. Bigs they trotted out tonight didn't do much for me.

Alcorn State was ranked 342nd of the 343 teams in Division I in the Rating Percentage Index (RPI).

Evan Turner IS sick. Lottery pick sick.

FWIW:

chadfordinsider: If OSU's Evan Turner keeps this up, he's a Top 5 pick in the draft. Some NBA scouts see the next Brandon Roy

Can't wait to see this team play a real opponent. ET has been unreal. I want to see how he, and the team, responds when the game gets slowed down to a half court game. I still want to see Turner handle the point forward role when he has to face pressure defense in the half court. Will he be able to initiate the offense? He's been a good one-on-one player in his career in the half court but he's also been prone to turn overs. I can see this offense getting really stagnant. Hopefully he's been able to cut down on the turnovers and hopefully the Bucks can keep the game moving up and down the court so ET and all the other guards can keep attacking in the open court.
