Does this move make any sense. Sounds like he should have never left Florida. How bout Butch Davis going to Carolina?

I think it is a great move by Miami. Spurrier is a great college coach when he can get the right players for his system and that will not be a problem at the "U". He is the type of coach you always hate when you play him, but now that he will become a Cane, it is on.
Edit to add:
I would much rather Miami went with a defensive coach like Bo Pelini or Gene Chizik. I think the reason that Spurrier gets the job is for recruiting. They need a "name" to step into the HC spot at Miami that will make the recruits beleive that Miami will be back next year. A "non-name" would have to establish himself for a couple years and give some of the recruits a reason to go to Florida or FSU.
Can we schedule a Miami/Florida game next year is this does happen?

Yes they will. If Ron Zook can get a second job, Coker might get a job at a top 25 program.
List of candidates looks something like this:
1. Barry Alverez
2. Greg Schiano
3. Bob Stoops
4. Steve Spurrier
5. Bo Pelini

The Cocks extend The Ole Ball Coach till 2012, adding a haf mill per year on to his deal.
This buys So Car another two years of him IMO ....
Talking heads on ABC talking about potentially Mike Shula to the Canes? That would be too good to be true.

Saw that. I guess they think he will change the image or something. If that happens, I cannot wait for Michael Irvin's reaction.
Honestly, there is no way the Boosters/Alumni allow that to happen, unless they get turned down by every single coach in the country.

Butch spurned em for UNC. The Ole Ball Coach preferred to stay in South Carolina. And now Schiano says NO to Cryami in favor of staying at Rutgers.
Would you have believed that last sentence if someone predicted it a year ago?

No. That is why I was so strongly behind firing him last year. Everyone looks at Coker's overall record and wonders if there is to much "pressure" to win there these days. The truth is Coker won with Butch Davis' players and never should have been in that position in the first place.
Bo Pelini? Barry Alverez? Jimmy Johnson? Please, someone step up and take this job, and return the U where they belong, losing to the Buckeyes in National championship games.
