the PD today said its believed they did place on bid on the Japanese pitcher
is this one of the surprises Shapiro mentioned in the PC?? a winning bid for Matsuzaka?
very doubtful
but still fingers crossed

if true - good for them....
with all the teams dropping out (the Mariners dropped out which surprised me) its worth putting a bid in just to see what happens....
i think he ends up with the Yankees, but i'm reading that the Cubbies are playing in this too

If they were to obtain this guy......I'm wondering if they envision him in the rotation or as a closer (the money prob makes him a starter). Of which, Lee or Byrd (or both) become trade bait.
I think the chances are slim and none we get this guy.

What kind of $$$ is this guy supposed to command? The PD column today didn't mention any numbers, just that tit was believed that the Indians made a bid.

$20 million - i've heard closer to $30...
it probably isn't happening, but look at it this way - the Mariners, probably the one team who could come close to getting him away from th Yankees, didn't bid...

Buster Olney is reporting that Boston had the highest bid, between 38 and 45 million.
