John Sanders’ contract was not renewed by SportsTime Ohio for next season. Sanders, who joined the organization in 1991, recently completed his 16th season calling Tribe games on television.
Sanders had been part of a three-team booth that included Rick Manning and Mike Hegan.
“We believe a two-person booth offers a more consistent, defined and viewer-friendly approach for the 138 telecasts on STO,’’ SportsTime Ohio President Jim Liberatore said.
STO is likely to retain color analyst Manning, a former Gold Glove center fielder for the Tribe, as one of the two. Leading candidates to team with him are Hegan and Matt Underwood, currently a member of the Indians radio broadcast team on WTAM 1100/AM. Hegan has split broadcast duties between television and radio in recent years.
