the late writer Mike Royko used to have a standing story about the ex-Cubs jinx - every playoff he would do a story about exCubs on playoff teams and predict winners and losers based on that....
his record, from what i can remember, was pretty good - he would pick the teams with the fewer ex Cubbies and they would usually win....
about that time i determined that it worked in reverse for ex-Indians - never went as far to document it, and my hypothesis could be weighted by the Gabe Paul run Yankee teams that won so many WS - but it seemed the more ex Indians you had the better shot you had to win....
