Avoids arbitration, signs for $2.5M. 25-man payroll now at $55M with Crisp not accounted for.

Depending on the deal...I could go either way. I like Coco here, but if we can get the deal done and end up with Marte, Kearns, Declareman (sp?) and Weaver for Coco and Westbrook and a couple prospects, I would do that too. I have heard that the deadline for it all may well be tomorrow. Any truth to that?

Shapiro supposedly told the BoSox to make their final and best offer today.
Interesting Broussard factoid. At Baseball Reference, his #1 career comparison through age 28? Paul Sorrento.

I hope so, because I just want something done or not done at this point. Shap's getting some respect from me.

i've always looked at player like Broussard and Blake as the heir apparents to Paul Sorrento - the type of player who helps the Indians get over the hump, but won't be there when the team is ready to climb to the top of the mountain.
i also wondered when the Crisp trade was first being discussed if Broussard would be included - he would have been a good fit as a platoon with the Greek god of walks at first base
