Nice sign

From the ESPN recap: "Westbrook was 0-4 against the White Sox last season in five starts."

This was better.

As discouraging as the loss Sunday was, this makes me feel good about the character of the team. Walk-free relief pitching helps, too. (How did Mota look? The box score says a perfect ninth, but it also says 3 fly balls...)

Re: Mota

He topped out at 94 mph IIRC. All 3 outs were hit deep into the outfield (near warning track), but they weren't "drives" by any stretch of the imagination. The wind was blowing out at a decent speed, and they were more or less deep popups.

I have to chime in here on Aaron Boone in the "nice sign" thread as well.

Granted, I know it has only been a couple of games, but this is an extremely encouraging start.

As much as we are all pining for Andy Marte to take the reins, if he has to spend the whole season in AAA it really only means that Boone is playing the kind of baseball this team brought him in to do in the first place.

And how about RFK? Blake on base all 5 times today, 2 hits and THREE walks. Boone and Blake combined to get on base 9 of 10 plate appearances. Jinkies!
