Steve Phillips listed the Tribe as the best destination for the current Royals closer.

The dude throws bullets but has just had unfortunate health issues over the past few years. I'd love to have him in the aresenal for the seventh or eighth innings before JB comes in.

Thoughts?

It appears the Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged as the most serious party yet in the Royals’ effort to seek an impact return by offering veteran closer Octavio Dotel before the July 31 nonwaiver trading deadline.

The Dodgers are looking to bolster an already strong bullpen and, presumably, would use Dotel as a setup reliever for All-Star closer Takashi Saito.

Dotel, 33, would also provide the Dodgers with a veteran backup for Saito, who has blown his last two save opportunities after converting 23 of his first 24.

Multiple sources confirm the Dodgers’ interest in Dotel, but they are balking at the Royals’ initial asking price — believed to be a young, established position player such as outfielder Matt Kemp or first baseman James Loney.

Gutierrez and a prospect might do it.

Since Nixon is sucking, I wouldn't trade Gutz right now.

Is Gutierrez in the same class as a Kemp or a Loney?

I don't think so.....which is why I mentioned we may need to throw in a prospect (mid-level guy).

KC isn't getting a Kemp or Loney so the Indians don't have to match that asking price.

I would agree. The Dodgers offense is in need of a spark, not their pen.
