Why do we have the night off?

Unread postby Steve Buffum » Thu Jul 12, 2007 1:50 pm

It took listening to John Feinstein filling in for Jim Rome while picking up lunch for me to realize that there's no Indians game tonight. In fact, it's kind of a light slate leaguewide.

That defies belief, especially given the number of "many games in few days" stretches everyone seems to have. That's just d-u-m dumb.

I'm not necessarily disappointed that there isn't a game tonite.

As much as I would like to see my tribe back in action, I think the team as a whole needs that extra day of rest, especially V-mart.

This way, we can come out of the gates, recharged and ready to get after it.

While not arguing your point, I've got to say there's something wrong with a summer night without baseball.

Most teams have the night off.

I blame all schedule distortions on interleague play.

The Indians just finished the first half with a 16 game stretch and a 15 game stretch. I think it is great for our boys to get this extra day. Besides just think about it this way: They were out west anyway. You need at least one day to get back in the midwest, you know, like a travel day.

I'd rather play 90 games before the break, get 4 days off, then be more rested for October.
