1991 Season from hell article

Good article on main page. About the Tribe's section...

The raised centerfield wall was a strange addiction to fans who wanted to come up with a nickname for that stupid all summer. I know they were trying to come up with something along the lines of the Monster in Fenway. I think I more than once heard "Blue Bug" for ours.

The Alex Cole era was one of the worst moments in my life. I remember he blew a game at home by trying to do a Willie Mays Hayes basket catch in the 9th...dropped it...and allowed the winning runs to score. All 6,000 of us were pretty pissed that night.

Ahh, yes...I remember those days well. I seem to remember we had lost about 10 in a row at one point during that summer and went about 4 games without scoring a run. I think we finally scored one when Alex Cole was HPB and the bases were loaded.

I remember pushing those fences back. That was not a good decision. Belle played about 3/4 of a season that year and still hit 28 HR's while playing inside that gargantuan ball park by the lake. Baerga spent most of his time at Charlotte, if I remember correctly. I saw, that same year, Mark Lewis make his debut in Texas and thought he was going to be incredible. That was the end of the Candiotti and Swindell era and the beginning of Reggie Jefferson, Mark Whitten, and Carlos Martinez.

No, probably a combo "game" and Beach Boy Concert summer classic.
