Dellucci, Nixon, and Rouse all in the lineup.

This should be interesting.

Observations after ONE innning:

1) CB Buckner continues to be the worst home plate umpire in baseball.
2) Mike Rouse...what is he good for? 0 for 5 and an error seems to be a good bet
3) Sizemore is heating up and hitting pitches that he wasn't able to make contact with a month ago
4) Stanford is probably going back east after this one
5) Garko isn't as good at first as Victor

Boy, that's a nice AB by Garko: not just the HR, but fouling off all those pitches at 1-2, then working the count full before hitting the homer. Much better approach than he's had recently.

Okay, so what I'm gettin' here is a strong Just Some Guy vibe from Stanford. Nice 4th, but otherwise very ordinary.

Delluci's gonna be on the DL for a while with that injury.

Is this Ben Francisco's big chance? I heard Choo's hurt, so he won't get the call.

How about that strikeout on Sizemore in the 4th? That so was a ball, even the catcher knew, he tossed it (over) Utley!

"but otherwise very ordinary"

There's lots of things worse than very ordinary; many of those things actually occupy major league roster spots.

11 in a row at one point, yeah, that kind of "ordinary" will do nicely.

Stanford showed me something: he struggled out of the gate, but really found his command after the first (solo shot to Howard notwithstanding).

An asset, at the very least.

Good work by Stanford.

Another example of Wedge having no feel for a starting pitcher.

I am starting to rethink my vote for a RH power bat on the front page....

Not really for this thread, but wasn't worth a new thread.

Johan Santana has thrown 8 innings of shutout baseball, which is not a surprise.

He has struck out zero, which is as shocking as Mike Rouse's single.

Even though Casey didn't come up with a hit, I'm happy that Wedge didn't decide to give Rouse a try.

J Mich wants to play and I say let him. He's not bad for us this season at all and has been that quality platoon guy that Shap must have liked enough to give up a 40 year old reliever for. Good deal on our part.

The Indians have a great shot at still winning this game. Grady leading off...I like our chances.

Time for Oldbero Hernandez to head to the DL with the dreaded 'shoulder fatigue'.

He can lend support and wisdom from the DL for the rest of the season.

So far this year Buff, you have nearly ruined Cliff Lee and Tom Mastny, then you pounded Oldberto into a shallow grave and as soon as he started pitching better you threw out a "anyone notice oldberto has not been bad of late?" line? Now look!

Tonight, you throw Stanford a bone and he gives up a couple more runs an inning later.

I am guessing nobody ever rubs the top of your head for luck

I'm not sure what was more disturbing, the fact oldberto thru a 1-2 fastball right down the heart of the plate, or that it was right where Martinez' target was.

Ahem ahem ahem ...

EVERY CLEVELAND INDIAN SUCKS! I HATE ALL OF THEM! THERE IS NOT ONE WHO IS ANY GOOD OR IS LIKELY TO PERFORM IN ANY INTERESTING WAY!

You know what's been pretty good lately, though? Eric Wedge's job security. I think it may have been shaky before, but I really think he's going to get a fifty-three year extension now. Yes, if there's anything I feel good about, it is the continued presence of Eric Wedge on the payroll. Not a bit in doubt. There is no chance of collapse there, of that Eric Wedge job security, no sir. Trust me on this one. Verily, yes, I can feel it in my bones. Eric Wedge job security ... now more than ever.

(Man, I hope that works.)

Is there a reason why Hernandez is still on this team? I'm serious. Why has he not been sent packing?

I missed the game tonight....

WHat happened to Delucci? Is he heading for th DL (please!)?

Just looking at the box score, it looks like Stanford settled in after the 1st inning. Poor relief from Fultz in the 7th, and also Olberto in the 9th (way to go Buff, giving him props today, or was it yesterday?).

I believe Stanford should get one more start. Westbrook is not ready yet (81 pitches last night, only 40 for strikes). I don't think he will be DFAed. If they activate Westbrook, I believe Stanford is now seen as valuable enough to go to the bullpen as a long man. Which means one of Mastny or Olberto is gone....Mastny optioned to Buffalo or Olberto booted out the door.

Choo is out six weeks with an elbow injury.

So, if Looch is heading to the DL, say hello to Mr. Francisco. Nice.

Delucci's muscle pull seemed pretty severe. He was carries off the field, putting no wait on it. That is more than a couple week injury.

Dellucci headed for the 15 Day DL. Now do you call up another outfielder or keep Stanford up when Westbrook returns?
