I really like the lineup today. I've been wanting to try Josh in the 2 hole for a while now. Let's hope this goes okay against the lefty. I expect Grady to have a few K's against the superb rookie K pitcher Hamels.

G. Sizemore cf 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .285
J. Barfield 2b 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .258
C. Blake 3b 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .281
V. Martinez 1b 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .323
J. Peralta ss 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .280
J. Michaels lf 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .269
R. Garko dh 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .290
F. Gutierrez rf 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .229
K. Shoppach c 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .383

Shoppach is in too. Awesome.

Shoppach is hands down the BEST backup catcher in MLB.

Nice job by Lee so far. Let's hope he can use this start as a springboard to effectiveness.

GREAT job by the offense and Cliff Lee so far tonight. Suprisingly Sizemore is 2-for-3 with a bunt single, double, 2 SB's and 2 runs scored against the lefty Hamels. Looks like Hamels may be done too.

Cliff, nice job except for the 2 hit batters and that HR to Howard.

I can take a Ryan Howard HR when we are up 6-0 and it's a solo shot.

Lee just gives up a dinger to Howard.

I am very impressed with Kelly as a game caller. He has Cliff relying on his offspeed stuff and a very nice mix up of pitches. Cliff's best out pitch seems to be that slow curve and Kelly recognizes that. We don't lose much when we go to him and Victor is a better 1b than anyone else. Garko is a solid fielder, but probably doesn't get that line drive with the bases loaded like Vic did.

Right now, if you stand within five feet of Kelly Shoppach you get burned.

Hmmmm, maybe they should pay him more. If there was only a way to get Victor more at bats not catching. Too bad we have Ryan Garko at first base, he is just too good to sit.

I'm very pleased with Gutie. I've watched him since he was with AA Akron, and he's got the tools to be a major league corner outfielder.

Also very happy with Cliff Lee-it's about time he got his.

I vote we keep Barfield in the 2-spot for at least a little bit.

And we need to get a couple guys on base to give Casey another chance to extend the streak.

I gotta hand it to Wedge, putting Barfield #2 was a smart move. Let's hope he keeps him there for a while.

Barring a miracle comeback, Casey's 26 game hit streak is over. It was one of the weakest hit streaks ever. He was hitting in the .280s 12 games ago, now he's down at .277.

It was funny watching Charlie try to argue the Shoppach homer. He didn't have a chance against Joe West. That's like Forrest Gump trying to win an argument with Einstein.

Lee absolutely needed a start like that just to get his confidence back. Let's hope he can build on it next time out.

Lee was outstanding tonight.

Of course, isn't this an established pattern for Lee though? DOesn't he always seem loose and in control when he gets a 5-6 run lead? I swear his best starts always come as a result of a big early lead where he settle in and doesn't nibble.

Also, I have to believe Shoppach may be an extremely valuable trading chip.

Really? Why would you trade him? Play him every day for a couple of weeks and see how he handles it. He gives them the option to not resign Hafner. You can move Vic to first base where he has belonged for 2 years now and Garko to DH.

I just saved them $12M with Hafner. Yeah for me!!!

It would be my idea if Hafner was hitting .320.

DH's are not cornerstones.

And don't tell me about Big Papi.
