J. Peralta ss 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .289
T. Nixon rf 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .250

WTF is Mike Rouse in there for? Isn't Barfield one of the only guys hitting right now?

Look, I get how we want to rest guys and all....but screw that. We have a 3-game break coming up for the All-Star break in 4 weeks. And, I believe without looking we have a day off next week. Good Lord are players coddled now.

I've noticed that in most of these interleague games in which we can't use the DH, Wedge likes to leave one of the normal starters (i.e., a non-platoon player) on the bench. One day it's Sizemore, another it's Peralta, now it's Barfield. I think the theory is that you will need to PH for the pitcher at some point and you will want the pinch hitter to be a player you slot into a position to preserve your flexibility. Garko, on the other hand, is more of a one shot PH who will leave the game after his turn at bat unless he's replacing Hafner. Similarly, Shoppach, is unlikely to be used as a PH because you need him in case Martinez gets hurt (although Garko could swing to catcher in an emergency).

I'll take that a step further . . . WTF is Mike Rouse STILL DOING ON THE ROSTER? Luis Rivas is no slugger, but the man has a proven track record as a utility infielder, decent speed on the basepaths, and is doing pretty well in Buffalo.

If I'm GMing this team, Rouse gets until the All-Star break to prove he belongs here.

Ugh. 1st and 3rd with two out, and Hafner Ks.

And the problems continue.

Hammy mentioned as a team we are hitting .121 with RISP the last 10 games.

It always seems that the guys who have been hitting are never the ones to come up with RISP. They are always the ones *left* in scoring position.

Cliff Lee might be carpooling with Sowers in Buffalo very soon if he keeps this up. Stanford needs to make the most of his opportunity tomorrow, because he has a chance to stick if he pitches well.

Ugh, so much for Lee improving for this game.

Maybe our offense will score with a bad pitching performance. Anyone think that when Jake comes back, depending on how Stanford does tomorrow, we send Lee down too and keep Stanford up? Is that possible? Stanford can't be any worse than Cliff.

Ok, it is time for Rouse to go.

In fact, I move for a considerable roster purge. Send Hernandez, Rouse, and Dellucci anywhere but here....and send Lee to Buffalo.

In place of Rouse, they should add Rivas. Cabrera is not ready, and even if so, he needs to play everyday. He is our only future starting option in the middle infield in the upper levels of the system. I don't see Inglett being added to this team as long as Garko is here.

How much do you wanna bet that Wedgie sitting Grady yesterday screwed with the groove that he was in. Hitting .390 for the past 10 games then K's twice already tonight.

WHAT. IS. WRONG with them? It's so frustrating.

Yeah, I hate stretches like this....when it seems your team can't even score one run in a game. Definitely struggling that's for sure. It happens to every team, yes, but still frustrating as hell to watch that's for sure. Good teams keep these bad spells to a handful of games, so we have to find a way to get this one tonight.

Hell, maybe they DFA Rouse tomorrow to make room for Stanford. :x  :-x

Rouse has to go. Why does it seem like the Indians are the only team in baseball that can't find a useful utility man? Vazquez last year, and Rouse this year.

Fortunately, Nixon was there to show him how to ground out on the FIRST pitch, while Rouse comes through with a three-pitch strikeout, the third looking.

Kind of ironic, no?, that the Indians offense is struggling and Lee is struggling....and the one guy Lee dominates is the former punching bag known as Aaron Boone who struggled with the Indians.

Wedge loves guys like him. They remind him of himself when he was a catcher. Talentless players who have a good attitude but can't hit.

We need only recall the love affair with Ramon Vazquez.

But it doesn't really matter who's in the lineup. This is like the end of the 05 season. They can't hit with RISP to save their mothers. It's Team Choke. They're pretty tight, even Hafner can't buy a hit.

Meanwhile, Eric wants the guys to "think about it." They'll think too much and get in an even worse funk. Just like last year when he told players to "think it over" while they were on the All Star break. I'm sure they lie awake in their beds, going over Wedge's words in their minds. :roll

Instead they should all go out and have a beer together, and get their minds off this slump. Then they might just start playing loose and having fun again.

Shapiro: GET BUSY! MOVE WHOEVER! WE NEED A GOOD SP! We have no shot of the playoffs with this rotation. We cannot even win games when CC and Fausto combine for 15 scoreless!

Wedge as a big league managere at 39 still stumps me. One that's been our manager for 5 years at 39 is even more disturbing.

I minded not having Hart and Grover.

Yeah, I totally agree. Wedgie doesn't seem to have any clue how to get them out of this. They need to get back to having fun like they were before and they'll be fine. Hopefully once they come back home for 6 games the life will come back.

More on Dellucci.....when he was thrown out stealing in the 1st inning it was the FIRST GUY MATT TRAINOR HAD THROWN OUT ALL YEAR. Guy was 0-14 before that throw.

Oh, and talk about dissing the Marlins. Their flagship station is dumping them after this season to be a 24/7 Dolphin Network.

Shallow fly ball that hit the heel of Hermidia's glove and fell out. Nixon had to stay close to the bag at 2B and the ball didn't get far away from Hermidia.
