Grady just made it 6-2.

BTW, nice call by Reed at second base.

That was a bad call, but he was screened so he couldn't see Pedroia missed the tag. He'll look at that one on the tape and kick himself.

Detroit's trailing Tampa 5-3 in the bottom of the 8th. If both leads hold, as bad as we looked in the first two games offensively (which is more a product of great pitching than bad offense), we haven't lost any ground going into the 4 game series with Detroit.

Byrd with a solid start again, just has one inning where he runs into a brick wall.

Oh shit. Time to walk in a run on 4 pitches.

Hey, when's the last time Fultz has thrown a single strike? Wasn't it before the road trip started?

Great job by Mastny tonight. I take back every negative word. Hats off to byrd on another solid performance. Let's get out of this right now. Come on Fultz.

Fultz against Big Papi with the bases loaded and leading 6-2. This is one time I wouldn't mind seeing him walk a guy with the bases loaded.

Wedgie with a another brilliant job in bullpen management. Big PooPoo meekly lines out to Honny...

After hitting one about 600 feet foul. Fultz scares me to death.

Just about everyone has gotten into the action hitting tonight. This is more like it. If we can hang on - to come of this roadie at 5-4 and 2.5 games up in the Central - I'll take it.

Why is Hernandez even allowed to take the mound? I don
t care if the Indians are up by 20 with two outs in the ninth. He should never be allowed to pitch in the major leagues ever again.

This is completely off-topic, and I didn't want to start a thread on it, but I was looking through the Twins/White Sox box score, and I'm dumbfounded by how Jason Tyner has a regular job in the Major Leagues. The guy is a 1-tool player. He's fast. But that's it. He doesn't particularly draw any walks, he doesn't hit for any power (his OBP is .313, his SLG is .319). he has 5 doubles on the year, and that's it for XBH. And yet this guy makes $400K a year. God I wish I were fast.

The ESPN annoucers annoying anyone else? Yes, thank you for showing highlights in which the Red Sox beat us and keep bringing up the 1997 world series and how we have not been in the playoffs since 2001.

Rub salt in the wound, Orel.

Nice.

Ballgame. Nice job salvaging a game tonight. Overall, not a bad road trip. 5-4 playing 2 first place teams is pretty decent. Our lead over the Tiggers remains 2.5 games, because they lost at Tampa. Big series with them coming up at the Jake.

I agree. The biggest thing in my book is we are 2.5 games up - finished plus .500 on the road trip. We have the staff lined up for a big four gamer vs. Detriot. If you look at the month of May with 19 road games - to come out of this thing at 16-11 or 17-12 for the month is outstanding.

May was a tough month schedule wise. Two long roadies with a west coast swing. Excellent job. The June schedule looks like one where we can get fat.

To be in first place at this point in the season, after the schedule we've had so far, and everything that happened with the snow is just amazing.

If this team stays focused, there's no reason we can't be playing meaningful games in October.

Man, Byrd a strike-machine. 25 of 27 first pitch strikes tonight. And, again, no walks.

I think it is about time that Hernandez is DFAed. I think he gets one more week.

Also, granted we only won one of three in Boston, I am satisfied with the outcome of the series. Nice road trip going 5-4, and they come back home up 2.5 games, gaining two games as when they started the trip they only had a .5 game lead.

I'll take that road trip. Would have been nice to pick up one more in KC, but the sweep against Detroit was great and taking one game in Boston is nothing to complain about right now.

The Tribe has a great opportunity to build some space on their lead over the Tigers with this next series.

I say when Matt Miller is ready to pitch we release Hernandez. Marte needs to spend a few months in Buffalo. We don't need his .180 bat up here. Hell, Rouse can hit .180, and we can use him to spell Jhonny too.
