Kluber looking a little amped in the first..... fastball up to 96mph and riding high..... puts up a scoreless frame though.

Bobbed and weaved through 2nd inning as well. Hope he settles down a bit. Runners on base with this lineup is dangerous.

Yeah...you can tell this team is pumped tonight, but they've got to focus. Kluber especially.

At least Ubaldo isn't pitching this series.

They're usually in bed by the 9th. This is new territory for them...they haven't existed during relevant August baseball.

Cabrera's looking really hobbled for Detroit..... Stubbs better be switched on as he might have a play at 1B on a hard hit single to RF.

Just found this little gem

The Angels have signed infielder Andy Marte to a minor league deal, according to York Revolution play-by-play announcer Darrell Henry (Twitter link). Marte, 29, once ranked as a one of the game's top 10 prospects, according to Baseball America, and was hitting .301/.367/.526 with 19 homers in 96 games for the Revolution in the Atlantic League.

How bad is the pitching in your league if Andy Marte is hittung .300 :lmfao:

Forgive me. But shouldn't a closer be able to throw three games in a row? That's not an unusual thing, is it? Isn't that what closers do?

Is one of the variables, "is he in shape?"

Is one of the variables, "does he have a pair?"

Is one of the variables having a game to back up his mouth?

He seemed to be calling bad pitches late in the game against miami as well

the facts are Perez has in all honesty been our best and most consistent late inning reliever the last several weeks. Smith has struggled, Allen has also struggled recently. He was due for this I guess. I guess if he was tired, then Hill should have closed tonight as Smith was used in his normal role in the 8th. Fielder led off. I'm not sure how excited all of us would have been if Rich Hill trotted out to start the 9th.

The Indians' equipment manager ought to get Santana a catcher's mitt to use when he's catching. It's got to be better than using that tennis racket of his.
Bottom 4th: Cleveland
- J. Kipnis grounded out to shortstop
- A. Cabrera doubled to deep left
- N. Swisher doubled to center, A. Cabrera scored
- J. Giambi doubled to deep right center, N. Swisher to third, N. Swisher out at home
- J. Giambi caught stealing, catcher to third

1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors

Love how the guy goes for what 16 in a row and blow one...and you guys all call for his head. Guy pitched 5 out of the last 7 days, of course he was gassed. This one's on Tito, he should've yanked him after the lead off double. You could see his stuff wasn't there.

Really, Tito should've left Cory in. Guy had the Eye of the Tiger tonight. Fuck 100 pitches (I think he was at 104), he could've easily gotten you 135.

so much for not gassing the bullpen early on in the series.
but in no place is the pain like Cleveland's: all-encompassing, multi-generational, redundant and unique at once.

8 freaking shutout innings in game one of the most significant series in 6+ years, and then Perez

Really, Tito should've left Cory in. Guy had the Eye of the Tiger tonight. Fuck 100 pitches (I think he was at 104), he could've easily gotten you 135.

good post....since coming off the DL before tonight....I looked it up....19 innings 13 hits, 3 walks, 2 runs. Guy has been nails and a big part of the recent upswing by the team. He stunk tonight. It happens.
