10 Cent Beer Year

Well, not exactly 10 cents. But $4 ain't too shabby for a beer at a ballgame now-a-days.

Beer is going to $4 and Dogs are going to $3 at Progressive Field this year.

The bean counters apparently looked at the numbers and decided ticket sales were hurt by the excessive cost of refreshment. I guess it's a bad idea to have really expensive crappy beer and an equally crappy product on the field.

So the Indians are doing their level best to fix both. And now this offseason has officially entered the twilight zone.

What the hell is going on around here? Whatever...good times.

BTW, no mention on exactly how big the new cheap $4 beer will be. My guess is 12oz.

Just kidding. No idea what that 12oz will be and my bet is you'll have to go to one or two stands on each level for it.

But still smart move by Tribe.

What would really be smart would be to have vendors walking around with the 12 oz cans/plastic bottles. Most people will just give the vendor a $5 bill and they'll get a $1 tip, as opposed to the 50 cents they currently get when beers are $7.50 or whatever it is. Helps them out and makes up, albeit slightly, for the shitty tips the vendors have been pulling in with poor crowds.

Wasn't the "Your Dad's Beer" stand with such premium selections as Old Milwaukee, High Life, and PBR already $4 for a 12 ounce can? Still a good move, I'd rather have a 12 ouncer than the tall boys the vendors pass around anyway. The tall boys were $10 (I think) and warm by the time you were halfway through.

If the beer's getting warm, then you're not drinking fast enough.

I'd wonder what the shakedown would be across the options that they offer- will this change vendor prices as well as the prices of larger size beers? $4 for 12 oz, $7.50 for 24 oz? Will they limit the number of 12 oz purchases at the same time?

One of the things I miss most about leaving the States is the lack of Thirsty Thursdays. Was only $2 for a 16 oz Yuengling at the Huntsville Stars (Milwaukee AA affiliate) games until the 7th inning. With an $8 ticket, you'd get pretty happy for $20.
