FYI- The guy was bad enough with his swing and approach when he was healthy and at least he could play two positions poorly. But that original hip injury buried him and this one os probably the final nail in the coffin.
From the Tribe:
Please note INF MATT LaPORTA underwent a left hip arthroscopy Thursday morning in Nashville, TN. The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Byrd of the Nashville Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center. Byrd performed a debridement of the left hip joint. Recovery and rehab is expected to take 3-to-4 months with the expectation Matt will be unrestricted for the start of exhibition play.

He'll be in the best shape of his life come spring training! He's finally healthy! That's the middle of the order, right-handed power bat we need!

I would laugh if I couldn't sit here and envision the presser announcing this come mid-March.

Now that he will be fixed, it's good to know that when the 37 year old FA 1B coming off an injury that they sign this winter is hitting .208 on May 14th, LaPorta will be waiting in the wings with a .387 in AAA ready to save the season.
Should I just start the thread now?

Just wait till the 1st week of ST games, when he hits 3 bombs off BP fastballs from pitchers who aren't throwing breaking balls in games yet. I tell ya, LaPorta-mania will reach a fever pitch in Cleveland at some point in 2013.

Has anyone on here actually been pining for LaPorta? If so, I have missed it.

Not nearly as many as pined for Andy Marte, I will say that.

Can they schedule a "suckectomy" at the same time.
I actually have to thinks his initial hip problems caused him to be stiffer than a high schooler in s strip joint. Cause if he was actually like this BEFORE they dealt for him.....

I would still rather see a stiff legged LaPorta than another multi million dollar veteran with nothing left.
I would have preferred Marte over Damon.

So you prefer your cup of vomit chilled as opposed to heated. Noted.
Marte would kill half his hometown and eat the other half to have one of Damon's productive seasons. But it was clear Damon was completely when he was here, I'll agree there.

Point being, those are the choices.
