Probably doesn't deserve a thread of it's own but, Rogers acquired from Rockies and has a good arm, but terrible numbers this year.
He's out of options, so when he joins the Tribe "in the coming days" (according to the official press release), he'll need to be added to the 25-man roster.
Hard to envisage anyone they'd send down to make room for him - even with Sipp stinking.

If they are in the market for a LF'er, they might have to give up one of our bullpen chips. Rogers could be the replacement.

After another poor performance from Sipp, I hope it's him.
Can't help but think it's gonna be Barnes getting sent back though.

LaPorta sent back to AAA and Rogers added, so we're going with an 8-man pen for now.
Might as well just trade LaPorta now...... he's killing it in AAA, we've got a sputtering offense at the major league level and they still won't play him..... put the guy out of his misery.

Not based on his career numbers he's not. Even his minor league numbers aren't that great, taking into account the thin air.
What's the over/under on when he's DFA'd? A week? A month?

About as long as Asencio lasted. I'll say 35 days.

They may as well have brought Ambriz, Herrmann or Chris Ray up.
Maybe I'm missing something.

This is a curious move. Maybe the computer came up with something we humans can't see. Odd too that we go with the 8 man pen during interleague.

Saw this on twitter from Rogers - "I was a .300 hitter for three years in DSL -- .100 one year, .100 one year, .100 one year." Annnnd...I'm a fan.
/looks like he'll be a welcome member of the BP mafia. Hope he pitches well enough to stay.

Maybe it's just easier to put him on the roster for a couple of weeks and DFA him than potentially exposing and losing someone they'd like to keep around a bit longer in the organization?
Former Tribe farmhand John Gaub has played that role quite a bit over the last year. He gets DFA'd every other month it seems.

Confused. Who are they protecting?

I have no idea if that's even a remote possibility, it was just a theory to try to explain why they made this move. I just couldn't figure out why they bothered to go out and claim a guy who hasn't had a whole lot of major league success and put him on the roster when they have a few guys in the minors that are probably equivalent.
Maybe it was just a hunch by management that they could 'fix' this guy and his power arm. Pitched well last night, but his career numbers are what they are.

Yeah, the Tribe has had tremendous success lately in fixing pitchers with power arms they picked up from the Rockies.
Gotta admit he's got a live arm, if nothing else.
