Indians MVP through 50 games?

Unread postby swerb » Sat Jun 02, 2012 10:01 am

Kipnis - leads team in at bats, hits, home runs, RBI's, runs, SB's, triples. On pace to finish .285, 30 HR, 110 RBI, 113 runs, 40 SB.

Lowe - Has 7 of the teams 28 wins. 7-3, 3.06 ERA. Stabilizing force in Indians rotation.

Pestano & Perez - Stats are almost identical. Have OWNED the 8th and 9th innings.

Kipnis gets my vote by a whisker over Lowe.

Lowe's been better than expected, but the large majority of his value comes from how pathetic the rest of the rotation has been..... he's been a real solidifying piece of this pitching staff.

Gimme DLowe. The peripherals aren't real good and we best enjoy this while we can, but the guy's 6-1 when pitching after a Tribe loss. Only two bad starts. Averaging a shade under 6.1 a start, and that includes his 2.1 inning debacle in Chicago.

Kipnis has been this team's everything offensively, but I'll give it to Lowe with how bad our top two SP have been and how good he's been at stopping/preventing losing streaks.

DLowe has been a losing streak stopper multiple times this year.

My wife loves Kipnis, so I had to go with Kipnis because I want to get laid tonight. Once you're married, some decisions become easy.

Kipnis. If he had 10 fewer at-bats last year, he'd be a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year.

Gotta be D. Lowe - guy comes in to give the rotation a veteran arm, and he rises up and takes control of the roataion - Don't think there is any chance w/ Jiminez, but if Masterson can turn it around, not a bad 1 - 2 w/ Lowe and Masterson

I think D. Lowe is by far the biggest suprise. But MVP has got to go to Kip.
Big fan of Pestano. Really cares about, and pushes for positive results.

Where the hell is Santana? Look at our record since he's been out. By far the MVP of this team is Carlos. Not even close.

Yep, where would we be without Santana's .747 OPS and .314 OBP in May?

We would be watching Jose Lopez hitting 4th. In a ML game. For real.

Touche.

But you'd say the same thing about Hafner hitting 4th.

Really? Really? No, really? OPS in May? From your catcher? Really?

No, the OPS is for the season. It was actually .659 in May.

Guy is far from the MVP. Not even in the discussion.

I agree with Tripods. Santana is critical and he has improved defensively, but he's still a 'Me' hitter and a hitter who doesn't use the entire field often enough. My vote goes to Kipnis and it's not even close.

He's improved defensively before our eyes and is a legit 2 or 3 hitter who will advance to 3-5 hitter this season. And he's learning and incorporating what he learns every day WHILE leading the team in most offensive categories.

Santana at least deserves an entry into the poll.

Without Lowe, the Indians would be battling Kansas City for fourth in the division and Pestano would need TJ surgery already.
