I'm here, just listening. Busy with food stuff for supper.

So far the bottom of the line-up isn't sucking anywhere near as much as I thought they would. Maybe there is some perverse hope for this team to keep its nose above water.

I hate to say it but, I'm almost starting to feel confident in Perez..... even after that "elegant" fist pump at the end.

9 pitches, 9 strikes to close it out.

Many of the same people that bitch about a douche like Papelbon will be fine with that stupid shit Perez ran out there today.

Makes me wish he had to hit.

Well, when Choo or Kipnis are protecting their heads or chests with their hands and thumbs because someone is evening the score with Perez, we'll see how much Tribe fans think it's cute and whether they're okay with it then.

Not even mentioning his near MCL tear with that A-ball move at the end of the game.

WTF is up with the guy? Like the reactions to his comments gave him some referendum to being a dick head.

yeah, Perez needs to stop that shit. You did your job. Be happy with that.

Acta didn't look pleased at all. I imagine there's a post-game meeting between Perez and Acta.

I'm fine with this team needing an asshole and Perez filling that role. They needed somebody brimming with confidence to the point of arrogance. It works better when it's a hitter a la Belle, because at least they have to answer for things.

Perez is taking it a step too far.

That said, ever hear about any Tigers getting hit because of Valverde?

I don't watch 150 Tigers games per year or follow them closely like I do this team. I have no idea when a Tiger gets hit whether it as due to Valverde or not.

I do know this team is bitten to death by injuries right now, that they can ill-afford another, that they have a thing going on with KC from earlier and that Perez's antics were ridiculous and warrant a response.

That's really all I need to know right now to hate the move. And that's not even remotely close to the overriding issue which is "You just don't do that shit".

ETA- And Perez was an arrogant asshole prior to that DeShaun Stevenson crap. Which is fine because it IS something a team needs. But when it crosses to this point someone better rein his dumb ass in.

It was more of a hypothetical question. Never heard about people retaliating for Papelbon's bullshit.

I do know this team is bitten to death by injuries right now, that they can ill-afford another, that they have a thing going on with KC from earlier and that Perez's antics were ridiculous and warrant a response.

I don't disagree with you at all. You don't have to defend your stance to me. I agree wholeheartedly and I didn't like the way Perez came off with his attendance comments and how critical he was of ownership. Saying something about attendance is fine, but I don't agree with how he went about it.

He can be as much of an asshole as he wants until it reaches a point where it gets one of our guys hit. Or, until it reaches the point where he isn't effective enough to back up his bullshit.

I just wonder how much baseball teams hold the opposition accountable for a closer being a dick. I just wonder if, since so many closers are assholes, teams just separate them from their opponent. It's not like many of the Indians players would condone that activity and a veteran, like Lowe or Damon, may have some words for Perez.

Thing is, unless you're the new, metro-sexual baseball bad-ass like Cole Hamels, you're not likely to know why a certain guy got a pitch in the back.

It's just supposed to take care of a situation (perceived or otherwise) and be done with it (theoretically).

If I had to guess, yes, plenty of guys have gotten hit because of Perez and Papelbon and Valverde. But other than beat guys or play-by-play guys maybe making reference of it during a broadcast or on Twitter or something, you probably never really know or hear about it.

Seriously, I was thrilled they beat a shitty team, but that move and the near knee blowout at the end pissed ME off and I'm a Perez and Indians fan. Simply because the Royals almost HAVE to respond now and that means a GD hamate bone is just waiting to be hit.

Also, If Acta glared at Perez, I have a lot of trust that he'll get told how to act.

OK just saw the final out. I think people were laughing at him, not with him- hopefully anyway. Didn't see the face wave.

Problem with closers is that even if pitchers hit, they'd almost never come up to bat anyway, of course.

The Tribe fans who bemoan Papelbon's antics should be ashamed of Perez's antics as well if they're not blinded by the uniform he wears. His act was worse IMO. And I despise the River Dancing asshole's act. The "You can't see me" shit was pathetic. Just don't see it as a defensible position to say otherwise.

I'm pretty sure that Papelbon and Pedroia (aka Perez and Kipinis) are the reason the Red Sox are the worst team in the history of sports.

Or maybe I am mistaken.

Where is Comeezah to comment on this and ESPN's roll?

I know it won't happen, and I know it would hurt the Indians by making Hafner an expensive pinch hitter, but I think reasons like this are why we need to go back to having the pitchers bat in the American League. Granted, it wouldn't affect closers, unless the game goes into extra innings, but it would maybe give some of them pause before they rub it in too much on the opposing team, since they would be the ones getting in the batter's box.

Even though I know Perez shouldn't have hotdogged it like that yesterday, I like seeing someone on the Indians have an attitude for once. That "play the game the right way" crap gets really dull after awhile. I just hope he can continue to back it up.

Kipnis isn't remotely to Pedroia's douchebaggery YET, but he hasn't had an MVP season. I imagine with similar accolades, Kipnis could be headed down a bad path. To this point he's been mostly endearing and humble, with the exception of a few fist pumps after coming in at home.

Perez is quickly approaching (and surpassing) Papelbon's levels, though. I like to see the guy fired up, but the "cant feel my face" shit is a pinnacle of obnoxiousness.

I haven't seen anything remotely alarming from Kipnis.

Of course, I'm not at all bothered by Pedroia either. I'd take 15 Pedroia's on my roster any day of the week.

If you wouldn't you're either an idiot or you don't mind losing.

Pedroia:Kipnis::Garnett:Varejao

Guys like that are people you hate when they're not on your team.....and love when they are.

Again, not saying Kipnis has shown any of the BS yet.....just sayin'.

Of course, I'm not at all bothered by Pedroia either. I'd take 15 Pedroia's on my roster any day of the week.

If you wouldn't you're either an idiot or you don't mind losing.

This exactly

I wasn't really aware that anyone had a problem with Pedroia. I like that guy a lot. When my kid is hitting balls off the T out back and gets ahold of a nice line drive he yells "That was a laser show!"

How cna I hate Pedroia when my kid is yelling about laser shows?

Although I'm not seeing Perez and his antics at the end of every game (just when a video gets posted somewhere) but I'm going to venture a guess that he really isn't up to Pap's level of being an ass yet. We had to put up with Pap on every sportscast every night when the Red Sux were playing well and he is a certified (cerfifiable???) jerk. On a scale of precious metals I'm gussing Pap is rhodium or palladium; Perez might be approaching silver. ;-) ;) If someone doesn't reel him in soon he might be meeting up with some brass (knuckles). Anyone willing to teach the boy a little lesson?

I'm not a fan of Pedroia because of his attitude. He doesn't seem to be a jackass so much as someone who has a 'tude bigger than himself. If he played for the Tribe I still wouldn't like him but I would thoroughly enjoy his production.

I never got Pedroia's 2007 ALCS Game 7 bat flip out of my head. That's why I hate him. That one incident.

Plus, my neighbor's mother's new husband is very close to the Pedroia family and he doesn't shut up about him any time I see him, which is fairly often because my neighbors like to grill out and have people over.

If we're talking a complete body of work I agree.

But his move yesterday, DURING a game and right after a strikeout, was more of a dick move than any I've seen during a game from Papelbon.

Might as well keep Bat in there and get his pitches in. Another inning or 2 should do it.

AmIHereAgain is at fault, for not starting the game thread. I am sure she feels terrible.

Our pitching is dog shit. We're going nowhere in October so let's roll over for the Royals and hope they beat out Shitcago and the pussycats for first place

And it looks like W. Smith is settling in now. All of a sudden, the White Sox don't look like the greatest offense in the world. How can that be?
Bottom 4th: Cleveland
- J. Kipnis grounded out to shortstop
- A. Cabrera doubled to deep left
- N. Swisher doubled to center, A. Cabrera scored
- J. Giambi doubled to deep right center, N. Swisher to third, N. Swisher out at home
- J. Giambi caught stealing, catcher to third

1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors

Last 5 games for the starters: -

Gomez - 6 runs
Lowe - 8 runs
Jimenez - 7 runs
Tomlin - 4 runs
Masterson - 8 runs

You're not gonna win many games like that!
