Indians vs Marlins 18/5/12 Interleague begins

Big Z (No not the legend that is; the psycho nut bag that was) comes to Cleveland to open up interleague action. He's pitching masterfully so far this year (which is good for my fantasy team) it must be the change of scenery and fresh start. But he is always liable to blow his top and go back to his wild, erratic days.

Just saw a replay of Konerko getting hit in the face with a fastball; it caught him a treat. It looked like it was not far from his eye, bit of a hairy moment.

When I think of the Marlins, all I can think about is Edgar Renteria and Craig Counsell

Shows how important Tim Belcher was to this pitching staff. You'd never see this many walks from our staff with him in charge.

On pace to exceed last year's walks allowed total by almost 150

Walking the #9 hitter is inexcusable.

Gotta be honest though, we're in first place and generally we're disappointed with how we're playing so far. Last year we were in first and everything seemed to be going right..... let's hope we can actually start performing like we would've hoped!

Carter is a pleasant surprise. And he's got a legit point, he should have gotten more consideration for Cooperstown. Guy had one of the greatest HR's in the history of baseball.

Sporstime Ohio uses the absolute worst camera angles for stolen base attempts.

They should just leave it on the centerfield camera.

Isn't he still on the payroll? I think it was a family issue that keeps him off the field. If that issue clears up perhaps he can resume his duties. I do like Rad, but the staff is better with Tim getting in guys faces.

You're right about Belcher still being with the team, but his presence in the dugout is sorely missed.

Zambrano might be the best at pitching from behind. You never know what you're going to get even in 3-0 and 3-1 counts. It seems he rarely throws a fastball in that situation and can drop in a changeup on the outside corner any time he wants.

Walks accounted for both marlins runs scored. We nearly lost last night's game to free passes I hope we don't do it tonight.

There was certainly a nasty gash because Konerko had a towel around his face as he was lying on the floor and walking off the field.

C'mon mafia throw up some zeroes and let the hitters jump on a dodgy Miami bullpen (although Choate who was warming up has been dealing all season)

Ha! I already gave him a ton of credit for his improvement behind the plate. Still needs to be engaged every inning but so much better than last year which tells me the knee injury that robbed him of spring training last season was more of a factor than his disinterest.

I hope he keeps proving me wrong.

Not sure I understand this.

The same reason I could tell you Belcher was poor in 2010 when Masterson was poor in 2010 is the same reason I can say I don't think Radinsky is at all at fault for Masterson this season.

Christ riding in an elephant wouldn't help with Ubaldo right now and Belcher didn't either. Guys have ups and downs. When pitcher's rise the pitching coach is heralded. When they go the other way the pitching coach is fired.

Belcher didn't make Chad Durbin any better. His fault?

I could coach the mid 90's Braves staff.

;-) ;)

Verlander loses the no-no on a 1-2 pitch with 1 out in the 9th.

And Manny brings Pestano in now?!

Still hate the call to bring Sipp into a tie game in the 8th.... I don't give a fuck that a lefty was due up.

Bottom of the 9th would be a hell of a good time for Damon's first Tribe HR.

Wrong part of the order against Bell there unfortunately.

Annoying game to lose with the walks and error but when you only score 2 and get 4 hits you won't win many games.

That inning showed the frailty of this teams bench.... one run game and you have to bat Damon, Kotchman and Lopez.

This team is flawed, we all know it, but I guess we should just enjoy 1st place whilst it lasts.

Still can't believe this teams 5th best reliever was used first out of the gate in a tie game. Yeah, Smiff fucked up on the play at 2B, but the Sipp leadoff walk to the #9 lefty he was brought on to face is inexcusable.
