Brandon Lyon

Yes, I realize we're only 30 games into the season, but the holes on this team aren't getting any smaller. The lack of right handed bats is clear, but what's really becoming an issue is the lack of a third RHP in the bullpen that Acta can trust in middle relief to spell Smith or Pestano on a given night.

One guy who the Indians should take a look at is Brandon Lyon from Houston. The Astros are 14-16, but nobody's mistaking them for a contender. Brandon Lyon's made 12 appearances and has zero holds, so he's already in the role that we'd put him in. He's struck out 12 and only walked 2 in 10.1 IP.

Obviously, at 5.5M, the Astros would have to eat a decent portion of the contract for it to work, but he's a free agent at season's end. The Indians might be wise to inquire on him now rather than wait for the trade deadline when his price might go up a little.

He's a reliable veteran guy who missed the majority of 2011 with an injury, so he should have plenty in the tank for this season.

You can pluck a RHP now from a team who might want to give a minor leaguer a chance after getting off to a hot start.

RHB won't come cheap and the only ones who would move are enormous salaries like Carlos Lee or Alfonso Soriano. Have to let them get paid for half the season first.

Plus, there are a lot of teams who feel like they have a shot enough to keep bats. Somebody in-house or in AAA can replace a guy like Lyon on a team like Houston.

Carlos Quentin if he's swinging well when he comes off the DL soon

He should just have that put on his tombstone. And I doubt the White Sox would trade him to a division rival and if they did, it would be 5 minutes before the trade deadline and they'd have to be 10+ games out of 1st.

Quentin's with the Padres now. Traded there this offseason when the White Sox had their one-week pseudo-rebuild phase.

Padres have hit 12 HR as a team. Hard to imagine they'll be in a hurry to move Quentin.

Ah, yeah even less reason for them to move him. Low risk/High reward guy for a shitty team.
