Rough lineup and excellent SP. Rangers are a tough series win.

Textbook grab from Choo to end the inning :hide:

Looked at that ball like it was square.

I saw these Rangers play 3 games in Arlington last week vs NYY & TB. They are playing like they did the last two seasons. But when Hamilton is out.. so is the heart of the team.

I wonder if Josh loves shagging balls during BP as much as Mariano Rivera did.

Great outing for Jeanmar. At least 3 of the Rangers hits were hard earned off of good pitches so he has pitched even better than the numbers show.

He's looking like he won't be going back to AAA anytime soon. Love it.

Very solid game up and down the lineup, and some nice defense to go along with it. (Except for Jeanmar not throwing to first.)

He wasn't ready to catch last season after being hurt. Putting back there served no purpose defensively. As the smartest guy in the room you should know that ;-) ;)

Wow, 4 games over .500. Not bad considering they were looking a little iffy a few weeks back.

Didn't hear anything until the end of the 6th; got home and got the on-line stream flowing just as the 8th was starting. Was afraid to say anything in fear of jinxing the team. Guess my plan worked. :-)

I want to believe, I do.....the hitting scares me

If you heard any of the radio play it was Damon that made sure Acta challenged the Manahan homer early...J.D. might br bringing something this team needs.

I was one who really wanted that. I thought he played bad catcher last year. I'm glad I was wrong on that one and he's playing great. The team is playing really well right now and it's fun to see.

He did play bad catcher last year and it was justifiable to move him out of there. Turns out it was apparently mostly due to the injury the season before that deprived him of the spring training he needed.

Kotchman had a great year last year. Does that justify him playing there all year if he hits .150??

Guys have issues for a variety of reasons. Past performance might buy you time but it doesn't give you an eternal right to the spot.

Yep. Damon refused to step into the batter's box until Acta came out. The bench was giving the universal home run sign prior to the review. The play was shown on the Jumbotron, so the bench was paying attention.

Good on Damon for being aware.

He's quite an adventure in the OF, though.

Thought I heard Hammy say during one of the games that Sandy mentioned Carlos is starting to take pride in his performance and he is now "owning" the catcher's position. Wants to be know as a good catcher, not a catcher who can hit. Good for Carlos - but you have to think it has a lot to do with Sandy's influence.

Credit where it's due for Santana. I never expected him to look this good behind the plate. The pick and throw he made the other night in the White Sox game was highly advanced for his level of experience behind the plate. They fixed what needed to be fixed with his footwork and he's really starting to understand the position.

I think he's still too cute with his game calling, especially when Ubaldo's on the mound, but that'll come as he gets to know the opposing hitters better. I think he tries to outsmart them instead of keeping it a little bit simpler. But, that's probably just picking nits on my part.

Yeah, so they won. It was only the Rangers- wait, what?

LOVING Gomez. Heard he didn't have his slider and adjusted.

So Sandy gets credit for Santana's throwing?
Can he take a look at Ubaldo?

I know it was only one game but that was a solid victory for the Erie Warriors last night. And in the bigger picture that's what the front office & Manny envisioned this team to be: efficient starting pitching backed up by stellar defense and timely hitting night after night.

Kipnis is a stud in the making, my friends. He is the ideal #2 hitter in this lineup and with the addition of Damon/Sizemore at the top the lineup just got deeper.

Who would thunk that Derek Lowe circa 2002 would be on the roster? Or that Jeanmar would do what he's done? And the Bullpen Mafia continuing to shine?

Adding all that in, it just shows how much Jimenez is KILLING this team every fifth day. He is like the anti-stopper so far. This team has gone 5-1 in its last six with the aforementioned combination of things going right. They playedmvery good baseball in all 5 victories. Guess who the 1 was. Kind of a sign that Ubaldo was on the mound in Chitown as the popups, like his season, go up in smoke. Let's hope the rest of the club doesn't get caught in the flames.

But I digress. Just an enjoyable ball game to watch. Now it's up to us to get out to the Jake and support this club.
