Phil Humber Perfect Game

Unread postby dazindiansfanuk » Sat Apr 21, 2012 6:26 pm

Against the M's

Fell behind Michael Saunders 3-0 to lead off the 9th but came back to strike him out before nailing down the perfecto on a checked swing K to end it.

Controversial as the HP ump called the check swing to end it on a 3-2 pitch.... didn't look like he went to me!

Yeah...I don't think he went.

I guess Brian Runge didn't want to have to write a book with Phil Humber the way Jim Joyce did with Armando Galarraga.

Two more votes from hubby and me that Ryan didn't go.

IMO the second-best scenario (behind a no questions PG) would have been if Ryan HAD swung for sure, AJ dropped the ball and then couldn't find it, booting it around and not grabbing it until Ryan had reached 1st on a botched play by AJ. Would suck to have been Humber in that case but think of how much fun it would have been for AJ to have gone done in infamy as the catcher who blew a PG. Image

A friend told me some CHW guy pitched a perfect game. I asked "Who they play?". "Seattle." That was all he had to say and Wedgie came to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if Wedgie is fired soon
