well I mean what is he supposed to say? If he says that he didn't but someone comes out and says he did, then he is pretty much screwed. If he says that he did take steroids then the media will go crazy on him.

Athletes take so many shakes and pills that it's almost impossible to know everything that is in there. The only thing that he could say with certainty is that he hasn't used them since he joined the MLB because of their regulations on nutrients. He now shops at GNC so nothing to worry about there.

but seriously, its not like he was being interrogated, why did he randonly come out and say this?

To hope that they media and fans will go easy on him when they discover he really did and was hiding it? God only knows and icertainly dont know.

I doubt he just came out and said "oh by the way I don't know if I used steroids." He was probably doing a radio interview or something and someone asked him about Bonds and the conversation just got moving and then he made the quote. I'm with the guy a few posts up. I hate the speculation that is involved whenever someone can hit a few homers...

Unfortunately, that's just the way the game is. I personally think that Papi is clean and probably always has been. But I believe the steroid era is over, so new guys like Ryan Howard and Albert Pujols won't have to answer the questions that Bonds faces every single day.
