Tribe to sign Felix Pie...

Unread postby RedDawg53 » Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:26 pm

I would like to throw a pie into Chris Antonetti's face for this weak signing.

Not a big deal. Just some roster depth. He slots in on the depth chart behind Grady and Zeke in CF. Considering we have zero people in Columbus we'll probably see more of this.

HEaring and seeing this gaining more steam with putting Brantley at first.

I'm baffled by that thought to be honest. Tribe just looks to be completely strapped at this point.
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. Pie was one of those 'toolsy' prospects that everyone loved when he was in the Cubs organization. He has mad speed, is a solid CF, but never was able to translate his 'tools' into baseball skills, especially with the stick.

He's a cheap filler and a 5th OF. Nothing more to see here.
Don't go away mad, just go away.

Yet someone will invariably bitch about it.

Oh, that already happened in this thread? Shocking.

It is better than giving Josh Willingham $10M a year.

I will bash this signing what is the point Ezequiel Carrera is better then Pie now we are going to give Pie his Ab's if there is some to give. But again it is my fault to expect anything less from this Owner.

Really? Cause this owner can't sign guys to sit in AAA in case somebody gets hurt?

Strictly a depth signing. Not a ML option right now. Think along the lines of a Travis Buck signing from last year signing a guy with prospect pedigree to a minor league deal and seeing what happens. But absolutely not part of the plan for next year unless injuries crop up and he is Plan B or C.

Buckle the seat belts because you will see several more of these minor league signings this offseason, just like every team does, to add some depth at AAA and get some looks at guys in spring training.
