Yep, what I like about LaRussa is he didn't use the injury excuse. He lost Wainwright before opening day & never missed a beat.

That about sums up what I thought of Tony LaRussa, as well.

The fact that he lost the 1988 and 1990 World Series' with THOSE teams should be etched on his tombstone one day. Well that and him being an apologist for Mark McGwire. And pretending he was a competent lawyer when he threatened to sue a guy on Twitter. And the drinky-drivey. And his changing pitchers 10 times a game, leading to the modern trend of 3.5 hour games...

Huh. Seems like yesterday I was in WI and attended a Brewers game. The locals were kind of scratching their heads over Metheny replacing BJ Surhoff as catcher.

Must be almost 20 yrs ago now. B Blyleven was the Angels pitcher.

Matheny is from Columbus OH area but attended Michigan?
