This really sucks. He was the best pitching coach we've had in a long time. I don't know if we are in trouble but this has to come as a blow.

Also of note, Bastian says the bullpen coach whose name I already forgot is a candidate (candidate is one of the stoopidest spelt words ever).
This, of course, proves once and for all that Peeks is an idiot and Bullpen coaches are immensley important individuals that can change the course of a team's entire season.

They gotta find someone that can teach Fausto and Ubaldo how to pitch. Cause those two have so much talent but both are dumb as rocks and need to sharpen their command.
You get those pitching up to their potential ... to go w Masterson, Tomlin, and whoever ... my god.

They have the money to take on Wandy's contract. It is like #12m for three more years, and shouldn't cost as much in prospects. Use Sizemore's money there.
Masterson
Ubaldo
Wandy
Tomlin
Carmona
And then add a bat.

Not sure about Ubaldo yet, but as far as Fausto is concerned that person might not exist. How much different can the instruction from a new guy be than from every pitching coach he's already had?
There's not a magic bullet that will fix him, his successful year was a result of hitters not knowing him. Cut bait.

There is no cure for stupid.
There are some guys that you just can't reach, regardless of how hard you try. Fausto Carmona is that person. Million dollar arm, ten cent head. He is what he is, nothing is going to change that.

If you compare his numbers with Jimenez over the last several years, you could almost argue that he's been nearly as productive. UJ's 2010 being the big exception, of course. This year, Wandy was head and shoulders better.
They moved enough salary in Bourne and Pence that they can afford to hold onto him if the price isn't right. He can be had, but not for a couple of B level prospects.

Very surprised to hear of this. I will bet there is more to the story. Just my two cents.

And then add a bat.You want a just-sub-.500 pitcher? Although he does pitch for the Astros and he does have an ERA of .349 so he would probably be better with a team that scores runs. And from Cot's:11:$7M, 12:$10M, 13:$13M, 14:$13M club option ($2.5M buyout)
Wandy?Wandy Rodriguez with the Houston Astros

Belcher was very good. This is a blow certainly. It also suggests what we all know, Fausto being Fausto isn't gonna change...and must be a real joy to coach.
/ftr - I'm not blaming Fausto for Belcher leaving, just making an observation.

According to Bastian Belcher is staying in the org in baseball ops, which if true means the spending more time w/ the family thing is true.

Its good then that his brain will still be around. Though I loved his presence on the mound. "Kid, STFU and start throwing strikes."
