What, no game thread? I'm busy getting ready for Irene. Someone in Cleveland has to not be at the game tonight, right?

I'll get the line-up up after I post my comment. Thome batted 4th yesterday, IIRC. Today Carlos the GIDP machine is in 4th. Guess who hit into a DP with runners on 1st and 2nd and only one out? Yup. :gah:

Wow, more shocking than Thome tying the game is that there is only 3 posts on this thread, 4 now.

Happy birthday, Jimmy. Go smack another

Is everyone at the game in their #25 Thome jerseys, at a bar drinking, watching football, or preparing the hurricane Irene? Usually this board is FULL

During baseball season, I'm 24/7 Indians, yup 24 hours a week ;-) ;) . I quit drinking so I stay home, hang out with my daughter on my days I have her, and fight for the tv between the Tribe & Spongebob lol.

We battened down our hatches yesterday, pulled the very last loose stuff in today. Now while I still have power I've been listening to the game, making a vat of homemade spaghetti sauce so I can bring in Mom's Cooking to Droobs with a BOMB! We're winning again! our two kids in Akron. Next is banana nut bread...also for the progeny. We used to eat together all the time, then Dad got transferred up here. Now when we head back home to visit we still get together for meals when we can.

Kind of disagree. He is only the MVP because he is on this team. He has carried a bigger load than any of the contenders. If he played on Boston, he would a decent player on that roster.

Where have you guys been? I've checked in a couple times since I started the thread and usually found a couple of crickets! Hope you all had fun wherever you were.

We were forced to evacuate and thought that getting back to NY to secure our house would be a good idea. It was no fun racing against the storm but it does seem funny now that you mention it. We are just starting to get hammered here now. :gah:

Heart in throat? Check. Fast pulse, shallow breathing? Check. Am I Peek taking too many painkillers? Nope. Just listening to Perez close another game in his own, special style.

What a game! Sure am glad we won.

I hate that '"no doubles" defense. It almost screwed us again. All it does is allow shallow fly balls and routine grounders that would normally be easy outs to become base hits. And when you're playing the team that leads the league in stolen bases a single can easily become a double. Might as well play your normal defense which gives you the best chance of getting the batter out.

Fortunately, Chris Perez was up to the job.

Jason Donald in for Phelps and gets three hits and doesn't butcher any plays in the field. No more Phelps, please.

Fuku and Hanny have really stepped up their game when we need it the most. Great to see.

That header by Duncan rounding second was almost as ridiculous as Zeke botching that bloop single in the 9th. He's not going to live that one down for a while. Luckily neither screwup cost us the game thanks to the heroics of Astrubal and Perez.

The bad news is that Choo had to take himself out. If he's out for more than a couple of days I think we're screwed.

I wasn't a big fan of bringing Thome back but it was great to see him go yard in a Tribe uni again, especially in a one-run win.

I don't know who they're going to bring up to take Tomlin's spot in the rotation. Gomez, I guess. I can't see them giving the ball to McAllister again this year, not as long as they're technically still in contention. Talbot pitched a great game for Columbus his last start. They wouldn't try him again, would they?
