Ubaldo's pitching scared now thanks to the bullshit warning. Couldn't back Betemit off the plate to set up a breaking ball. He's taken velocity off his fastball to control it better.

Gotta make your pitches, but this isn't entirely his fault.

Get out of this jam or it's game. 2-0 I can live with. 4-0 and it's all over.

Yep. Ubaldo is gonna pitch like a bitch now thanks to the umpiring. I hope if he does hit someone that Verlander is the first one outand the first one decked by Carmona.

I hate to be that guy, but two blue chip pitching prospects should have netted more than this. I'm fine with taking some risk, but he may not have been the right guy to do it with. The warning signs were there before we even got him. Hell, we traded 1.5 seasons of Cliff Lee for a much lower price.

We might need to throw up a 10-4 on our cake schedule the next 2 weeks. 4.5 is a pretty tenuous number this late in the year.

Ubaldo's done. He's fragile.

Going to have to blow apart the bullpen again today with no off day and a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Yeah....Ubaldo certainly not looking like an ace at all. And don't forget..it took some lobbying to change Ubaldo's previous Tiger start from three to zero earned runs. Really the only game he has looked acceptable.

this one hurts. But there is still a lot of games left to be played especially with each other. Plus the Tigers have been notorious for late season collapses. Not out of it yet. Its just one game......but it sucks.

I just don't undertand it. We're at a disadvantage thanks in large part to a bullshit move by Detroit.

Ubaldo is out there losing confidence pitch by pitch.

We need to do something and send a message of our own or we are an Eric Wedge team of bitches.

This has shades of the 2004 series against Minnesota in mid-August when the Indians got the deficit down to 1, got swept, and proceeded to lose 7 more in a row.

Corey Koskie hit a 2R HR off Rick White in the 10th inning of the series opener and it all went downhill from there.

If the offense continues to be dormant, we might see a position player throw two innings or see two position players pitch.

I get the snap judgement on Ubaldo because we expected help from him this year, but if they get him healthy and straightened out in the offseason, he can be a huge upgrade for the 2012 and even 2013 rotation.

Can't write this trade off completely based on 4 starts.

Not quite right. The Indians actually took the first two games of that series to get within one game of the lead. Then they lost on a Sunday afternoon in the manner you describe. That was the first of nine losses in a row.

You're right. My mistake.

I was at that Sunday game.

Don't know what I was thinking calling it the whole series.

Just hate paying such a premium price for someone who was quasi-damaged goods. Getting instant help was tempting, but we probably could have done much better dangling White and Pomeranz in the offseason.

White's damaged goods too. Throwing a splitter, that finger will be a recurring issue.

But, yeah, I get your point, too.

Guy could turn it around. He's got incredible stuff. Just needs to command it.

You have to assume that they'll burn out Herrmann tonight.... send him to AAA for Judy tomorrow and then send Judy back for the spot starter on Tuesday.

I didn't need an excuse to start drinking, but i've got one.

At least Carlos owns Porcello..... 3rd HR off him in I think 11ABs.

Battling and signs of life.

Even if they don't come back and win, this is big for them.

Little bit of a panic move by Leyland here. Then again, he has a fresh bullpen and might as well use it.

It's an almost playoff game like move.

With the way Below stifled us in that 14-inning game, let's hope the bats have learned a thing or two.
