Yes he is. By far. But John McDonald would have been a vast improvement as well.

But in general, I laugh at Matt Stairs. He takes very few cheap swings and usually makes himself look pretty bad. Not to mention the awesome story I heard about him on the porch one day.

Look, I agree that Jason Davis sucks. But he's never been given a consistent opportunity to prove it. It's gotta be near impossible to throw strikes when you only work once every couple of weeks.

Johnny Mac a great defender he is.....an but he makes offense look offensive. I'd take Barfield any day over Mac. Not even close. Mac is a career reserve. Barfield a potential all-star.

The discussion started by me saying that McDonald is an improvement over Clayton at the dish. That's not a lie. That's very true, especially with how McDonald has done this year.

I'm just tired of seeing Josh Barfield hit into double plays at all the wrong times. It's just frustration. I know I've got to wait it out with the kid.

I know it, you know it, and the american people know it. I'm just playing devil's advocate. He's being set up to fail. He'll probably fail anyways, but he has absolutely no chance at succeeding if he plays so erratically. I still think we're going to end up giving him away, and he's going to come back and kick our ass for the next 6 or 8 years. He's got stuff, he just hasn't figured out how to pitch yet.

Oh, no. I meant JMac as an upgrade over Clayton. Stairs is definitely light years above JMac in terms of hitting as a career and in a pinch.

I know McDonald's numbers are somewhat misleading, but I always liked the guy and wish him tons of luck.
