Lake County Captains

Man, Gomez impressive tonight. Had a perfect game through 5 innings.....now a 1-hitter through 7.

But the real reason I rang, is this Captains lineup is LOADED. And, most of the lineup is very young. But guys like McBride, Goedert, Rivero, Pena, and Weglarz are having nice seasons.

Especially Goedert. He just hit his 9th bomb of the year tonight. 2-3 with a 2B as well, and 4 RBIs and another walk. In 22 games, he now has 22 walks to only 14 Ks. His walk-rate is off the charts.

Lake County leads the league in walks with 127 (not including tonight)....the 2nd team has 94! Looks like that hitting philosophy Hudgens brought on board is starting to sink in. More on this in the MH on Thurs...

Thanks for the info Tony. Perhaps you can ask John Sickels about the prospects down there in low-A. I mean we all know about Adam Miller, Tony Sipp and others at AA or AAA, the guys in low A need some publicity as well.

Goedert is having a Kouzmanoff-like takeoff from 2004 at Lake County. Unheralded player who comes in and just hits.
