Victor Martinez's value skyrocketed in the post steroid era. Him not being a 30 homer guy isn't as glaring as when putting him at first or DHing meant a power vacuum in 2006 or 2005. Now a guy who hits .310 and doubles a lot is valuable again. When he can catch, that's REALLY valuable.

He was lazy and a crybaby when he was here. Everyone in the world knew if he went the other way with consistency he would have been awesome from day 1. But he refused to do it in his Tribe days with the exception of his 05 breakout year.

So glad the Indians didn't give up on Raffy in 2009. He was so awful, but Shapiro realized how long it took to find him. A lot were calling for them to cut ties when he was was sporting a 7+ ERA. sometimes patience does get rewarded.
