MLB Network's Peter Gammons reports that the Indians offered to pick up all of Carlos Beltran's remaining salary, as well as give up a good player in return, but Beltran decided he didn't want to go to Cleveland.
Gammons doesn't necessarily say there was a deal in place and Beltran nixed it, but it's clear he wants to go to a team he thinks has a good chance to win a title, and he doesn't think the Indians fit that bill. The veteran outfielder has a full no-trade clause and might only waive it for the Rangers, Giants, Phillies, Braves or Brewers.

Sure hope whoever he picks plays against us in the first round of the playoffs and we beat him/them! Hey, I can dream, can't I? (And for google's benefit: No, I am not drinking)
