His job wasn't to hit it on the ground.... he has to elevate.

If you try to elevate you end up popping up or whiffing. You just have to focus on hitting it hard, and that's exactly what he did.

You know when I just read that my mind defined "execute" as KILL as opposed to PERFORM. Funny how this kind of play wants one to kill the entire team.

Poor Justin has pitched too well too be playing for this team right now. Like Hammy said, our pitchers feel like they have to be perfect so they don't give up runs. Well even if they would be perfect the guys playing behind them still allow base runners. Screwed no matter which way you play. grrrr.....

Is Buck at the park yet? If so, he has to hit for Kearns even if he only just qualifies as the lesser of two evils.

When a team can't hit, it really has to play good fundamental baseball to even have a chance to win. The two losses to Colorado and the two losses to SF have shown this is a terrible fundamental team. Same thing we used to complain about when Wedge was manager. Even some of Hargrove's teams were fundamentally poor..but had enough hitting to overcome it.

Don't see how Chiz shouldn't get the call up now. Guy's raking at Columbus and the Super 2 status cleared(?), Choo's out for the foreseeable future. Lineup needs some punch, sick of noodle swingers we have.

I will be shocked if we see any other major call ups. That is just not how this team does business, Phelps notwithstanding. In fact, Phelps could be an arugment to not making a move with Chisenhall.

So, the Indians have given up one earned run in the last two games and have gone 0-2. Only in Cleveland.

Would not be surprised to see Choo out until mid- or late August. This from the Cleveland Indians' site: "...he will be examined on Monday by renowned hand specialist and surgeon Dr. Tom Graham. All indications are that Choo will likely need surgery, but the Indians will not announce a projected timetable for return until after the consultation. "

I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever played on on...stage. BUT, he probably has a Bennett's Fracture. My hubby got one when he went down on his 'cycle. He needed surgery with a couple of pins or screws or something kinda sticking out, a cast, and x-rays every week or two. It took him six weeks before he was back at work and HE doesn't swing a bat.

Right now, if it wasn't for bad luck the Tribe wouldn't have any luck at all. Damn.

He is 7 for his last 17! Those are his stats since coming off the DL.

His numbers as a whole pretty much say that's he's not quite ready for the big time. Expecting him to come up and solve our offensive problems is problematic.

I wouldn't mind seeing a move made to bring Jerad Head up and DFA'ing Kearns. Might as well see what we have with Head...he certainly could not be worse than Kearns. Head can play RF, LF, 3B, and 1B. He seems to have put together a pretty solid season at Columbus. Not really a hot prospect due to his age, but again..how could he be worse than Kearns?

This is very true, however, in this sitaution, not sure if you can lose.

Look, I've been on record here telling guys who are in love with every prospect just how hard it is to be an average player. This applies to Chizzy - probably a longshot to be average, just like most prospects.

But Christ, the guy could be an utter disaster at the plate and still won't be outproduces by 6 thru 9 and the 2 hole in the current line-up. It's almost to the point you might wanna throw Hafner out there and say "I'll take the two errors a game, we need a GD major league hitter up there. Of course taxing him in the field will land him on the DL....

It's a gruesome situation out there offensively.

If we got nobody down there can out produce Jack Hanahan, we're F'd for the future anyways.
