I would like to see marson get the catching duties till Laporta comes back. lets see what he can do with extended playing time.

The way I see it is, in my mind Santana is not an everyday 1Bman.

With this move, unless it's a temporary option since they planned on having Marson catching Carrasco tonight (and hence Santana at 1B), you're basically committing to Santana being the everyday 1Bman or Everett being the everyday 3Bman (with Hannahan moving to 1B).....neither of those options make much sense to me.

Now, I don't know if Nick Johnson will hit at the ML level ever again (or stay healthy for more than a week) but, seeing as he has to be on the ML roster by July or is eligable for free agency, surely this would be an opportune time to see what you have?!

Buck can play 1B, although he isn't very experienced there and I think you'll see a lot of Santana at 1B and Marson behind the plate. Marson really is an excellent defensive catcher, and he's been holding his own with the bat this year. Hannahan can play 1B if necessary as well with Everett sliding over to 3B.

As was pointed out, Wes Hodges was released. Chiz, healthy or not, is 100% not an option at 1B.

Goedert and Nick Johnson are options if LaPorta is out longer than 15 days.

Id be okay with tons of marson because it upgrades the defense. a makeshift combo of Buck, Kearns, everett at first base with Carlos behind the plate frightens me.

Realistically you're gonna carry below OPS+ at four positions (3B, 2B, 1B and C) in exchange for above average D...so the OF, Pronk, and Droobs have to pick up the slack. This is scary considering we head to the NL for 9 straight games and there's no DH.

It's scary if you're going to play NL teams. Scarier if you prefer winning over losing in general.

Don't forget your RF is below that level too. And you're not trading for above average D at 1b with any of the options.

13-8 when Marson starts, 25-23 when Santana starts. Team's given up 5 or more runs three times with Marson starting. That's not just coincidence.

I totally agree with all you guys. Lets see what Marson has now that hes been here for awhile. Hes certainly a hell of alot better than Santana back there. Keep Carlos and first and DH until Laporta comes back.
