I'm not exactly sure why having Santana play 1B is that much of an upgrade from LaPorta at this very second. About the only thing he can do right now better than LaPorta is take a walk.

At present, to borrow a phrase from Gunnery Sgt Hartman, they are both equally worthless.

Talbot and Tomlin stink. They will have very forgettable major league careers. I'm not sure what Acta's point was this game. It was pretty obvious with the back to back jacks in the 4th that Talbot was done. HE needed to have a one batter rope that inning. First guy on he's done. Armchair quarterbackig is great! As horrid as Carmona is this year, he's still better than the terrible T's. Jeremy Sowers, meet your right handed counterpoint...Josh Tomlin.

Reading Steve Buffum who always had no clue how the guy got anyone out. Prescient man. But he's no Talbot, that guy is so incredibly bad I have no clue how they keep him on the roster. I guess he has no options. But 49 hits, 17 walks and 7 homers in 37.2 innings is so inexplicably bad, you really cannot keep a guy who pitches like that on the roster. I guess he can get better, and you can say his last two starts were ok, but 66 base runners in 37.2 innings?? That is just rancid.

Talbott needs to be let go when White gets healthy which likley won't be until August, no? Any other options? Call up Zack attack? Talbott is going to be another Elarton or Jason Davis.

The league adjusted on Tomlin. He needs to adjust back or you will be right about his short career. Given that he's pitched well most of the year, it would be kinda silly to send him down now, especially since there's really no-one down there that's going to fare a whole lot better. Keep in mind that no-one's expecting him to be a 20 game winner with a low 3 ERA. He's a 4-5 guy. If he can put up 10-12 wins a year with an ERA in the low to mid 4s, I've got no problem with that. Same with Talbot.

Talbot's up and down. Unfortunately, with no options left, they can't demote him without putting him on waivers. Another horrible outing or two and that really won't matter.

I don't want to send Tomlin down, he's our 3rd best starter. Talbot just is not very good right now. I can't see him getting much better.

Their stats are borderline sick, and that's with Herrmann and Chad Durbin totally sucking.

We fall out of contention, Durbin's pretty much gone. They should probably just do it anyway, but there's not that many options in AAA to replace him.

It's interesting that Phelps has walked three times in his first week in the bigs and O-Cab has walked 6 times in >200AB. At least the kid is starting to feel a bit more comfortable at the dish and not swinging at everything.

Carlos 0-5 with 3K. Color me frustrated.

Its gotta just be Carlos. Choo and Grady at least attempt to go the other way and make adjustments, plus they can both still add some other quality attributes such as Choo's arm and base stealing and Grady can still run down balls. Carlos is just lost, stupid,hard headed or some combination of both.

On the other hand, I'm not sure I understand how Orlando finally has a great offensive game for the first time in forever last night and basically won the game with his 2 out double and gets rewarded with an immediate benching for it. So it's a day game after a night game, but he's not a catcher. I understand the decision to bring up Phelps but he's flat stunk worse than Orlando ever has this year. Don't get that decision today either.
