The worst duo in all of baseball, for us that watch Extra Innings, are these two boneheads from Detroit. Even the color guy, however, pointed out an obvious, simple but painfully truthful fact and that is Sizemore is getting absolutely schooled on Verlander's fastballs. Sizemore saw two curve balls at most, one of which had him looking because Verlander I guess still has enough for Sizemore not to throw it to him in the same spot every pitch (though he probably could). Sizemore swung and missed on 4-5 of the strikes and that is sure-fire proof that he is losing his approach and his bat speed. I recall Sizemore turning on a Fernando Rodney 99 mph fastball (about 2008) and putting it about 420 feet to right field. Verlander's throwing 95-97 tops and Sizemore is super tardy. These are balls that are not in his wheelhouse, but Sizemore was once a great fastball hitter. It was always that breaking ball a foot from the dirt that had his swinging and missing. I don't know if the injury killed him or what, but he's certainly lost at the plate. He was back for that one week 2006 style...oh well.

I had a wreck three years ago and saw a physical therapist. She was a cleat chaser and is now married to a member of the Giants who went to LSU (without getting too personal). She is cousins with one of the former "three stooges" (hint: not Trot Nixon) and he set her up on a date with Sizemore. She liked him strictly for the fact that he was a baseball player. All she wanted to do was not work again and marry a rich, good-looking baseball player. She told me a lot about the relationship. She even flew out to Arizona to spend a week with him. When she got back, she told me he was the most boring person she had ever spent time with and that she wasn't sure it would work (remember, cleat chasers don't care about that stuff as long as you're on tv and make money). She said and I truly quote, "He wouldn't take charge. He's kind of a pussy." I winced when I heard her call the cf and one of the best players of my favorite team a word that I didn't think she was capable of using. It stung...then it set in a day or two later. She was right.

I hate to bash Grady, but looks like that's pretty much what he's become at the plate.
