Bat's a little shaky tonight but he's made good pitches when he has to. And he got some defensive help from Buck and Marson. Somehow he got through five only allowing one run.

Peavy has been absolutely dominant. We have to find a way to squeeze a run across against him and then get to their bullpen. He's pitching like he did when he was something like 19-6 with the Padres. We're not even making him sweat. This does not look good.

Too many guys are trying to pull the ball cause they're seeing the fastball all the way. They've gotta let it get into the hitting zone and start trying to inside-out some of them.

I hope that we become a moderate "buyer" if we're still in good shape by the break. This team needs a bat between Hafner and Orlando. I'd love to have a guy like Michael Young or a player who can platoon at 3rd and of, because I do not see Hannahan being able to man that bag for 162 games with just a night or two off. This "B" lineup we have tonight reminds me of having Dellucci, Jason Michaels, and Mike Rouse in at the same time, with Garko hitting cleanup.

Masterson is doing his part...flirting with a touch of disaster each inning. I wonder what's the count on K's to end innings? 4?

Agreed. Peavy looks like he did in his 19 win season with SD. It seems like the ChiSox have had the same pitching staff for the last 7 years, minus Vasquez. And if Chicago had Jermaine Dye in his prime on this team, as opposed to Dunn...they'd be sniffing us in the Central race right about now. As dangerous as I thought they were (and opening day had all but affirmed my position), I have seen much better White Sox teams in the last decade.

Missing 3 starters in the lineup tonight, tough to really evaluate and throw in the fact Peavy is terrific tonight and you'll have games like this. Shame we are spoiling a solid effort from Masterson though.

It is remarkable that a major American city like Chicago allows that idiot Harrelson to have a microphone to spew his verbal diarrhea year after year after year.

The last time I was force fed his homer horseshit, I was inspired to find websites that would acknowledge his amazingly bad "work." Not surprisingly, there are many that are out there, and most of them are hosted by Chicagoans.
